I doubt I'll do anything more with this, but. here's my own Merehawke (yeah this is just what their foreplay looks like)
Ok. So. In an alternative canon Violeta doesn't take Anders along into the deep roads which leads to Carver's death (honestly don't think there's a universe in which she forces him to stay home). Already not a good time, but act 2 mostly goes as per usual - Isabela and Anders situationships, only because he never saved Carver, Violeta never has a reason to start taking Anders seriously or start falling for him and probably breaks his heart eventually along with Isabela's. But then Leandra dies, and Violeta completely crashes out. She's lost her last remaining family member, thinks she's now responsible for most of her family's deaths (hell I'm sure she'll find a way to blame herself for Malcolm's death as well fucking somehow). And in this universe, she never let anyone get too close, so at that point she doesn't really have anyone to comfort her... She's still close-ish to Merrill before that point, but sees her as so much of a little sister figure that she'd never go to her for comfort - who knew always putting on a brave face for your siblings and never ever allowing yourself to be vulnerable in front of them could have negative consequences? She's alone because she thinks she has to be, and she's ruining all of her remaining relationships because she. doesn't actually know how to deal with her grief alone. Like, she already loves trying to push everyone away and get really fucking mean in times of grief, and if anything I think she's even worse with that in this au. Overall, it's a pretty bad time for everyone.
So anyway. Meredith. As happens in game, Meredith starts contacting her on official Knight-Commander to Champion business. And at first Violeta doesn't respond, but... Well, she's lonely and grieving, and sex is always the best distraction. At the same time, she's so damn angry and self-destructive and just looking for a thrill, any thrill, so... Who would be the most dangerous person to try and seduce, as an apostate blood mage? She's confident, maybe over-confident, but at the same time she's also subconsciously kinda trying to prove to herself she's still got it (lmao). That all this pain, all those failed relationships aren't actually her fault. And if Meredith doesn't respond well, then she'll have a fight on her hands. And in this case, too, she's over-confident. It'll be a satisfying kill.
Generally, although Meredith. you know. does respond to Violeta's advances, over the course of their so-called relationship they actually both are and remain convinced that they'll eventually kill the other. Violeta, still chasing that adrenaline, keeps pushing Meredith's buttons, keeps trying to see how far she can go and what will finally push Meredith over the edge. Like, she kinda got what she was trying for, she did get into the Knight-Commander's pants, but huh weird, it's still not enough to fill that gaping hole in her heart. Nothing ever seems to be enough, so she takes more and needs more, needs worse and more dangerous and painful. And Meredith on the other hand is just kinda like "Well, eventually this evil maleficar will reveal her true nature to the public, and then I'll simply have to take the excuse to arrest and execute her. I can allow myself this dalliance, but in the end I will do what's necessary, though it may be unfortunate (wait, why does that thought kinda hurt?)"
Haha heyyyy
The difference is that Violeta sleeps with Meredith as a way to self destruct because she already hates herself, while Meredith hates herself because she's sleeping with Violeta. Or something like that
