Question-I just finished Shaandaar and thought it was pretty funny. It's super whimsical and odd, but it's cute. Why do so many people seem to dislike it?
hey! this is radhika & i’m just speaking for myself, i know lots of people who enjoyed it thoroughly too so yeah idk there’s a lot of mixed opinions about this movie. anyways this got a bit long so it’s going under the cut :)
but basically i didn’t really like it that much bc i felt like half of the humor in the movie consisted on fat shaming eesha and that didn’t sit well with me like you were supposed to feel bad for her i guess but also half the jokes were meant to make you laugh at her, like they used her body for laughs and that was just so?? i know they had that scene at the end where she accepts herself but that scene was so half assed imo like i feel like they wanted to make her a punchline for the whole movie and then have that scene at the end for plausible deniability. i also thought there were so many.. unnecessary parts? like the whole weed thing was v half assed humor like at most i rolled my eyes but i wasn’t really laughing and i know that was to reveal that alia was his real daughter or w/e but idk i felt like that was so weird bc they built up this whole story about her mother and how she went missing or w/e and how the dad was still in love with her and then they never acknowledged it again which is just bad story telling like you can’t bring up a plotline and then not mention it ever again like he didn’t have to go find her, he could’ve decided he was happy w his daughters and didn’t want to go down that road but like don’t just not mention it at all bc that’s so??? also vikas bahl seems to have some sort of issue w mental health like any mental disorders he just can’t seem to portray accurately??? like i don’t think he knows what insomnia even is… the entire movie they were acting like alia had never ever slept before and it was so??like that’s…….not…what insomnia is. like i guess her insomnia even affected the way she ate bananas like did u see that who tf eats like that but anyways that’s beside the point. the same thing in happened htp like i don’t even know what that was supposed to be… anyways my main issue was the missing plots/weird plot lines and the fat shaming. on a less serious note, i was also mad that nazdeekiyan was in b&w in the movie too :( also they cut the roof scene even tho it was in the promos so that was disappointing too but yeah idk the songs were really nice, i think everyone did a good job, it just wasn’t a very good story to begin with but people did the best w what they were given. it was also soo nice to see sanah kapoor, i like her a lot & i liked her and alia as sisters :) but yeah idk that’s my opinion about it sorry this is so long!

This is Alina! I pretty much agree with everything Radhika said. Also I think that they cut out WAY too many scenes from the romance between Alia and Shahid to make way for weird jokes (they weren't my type) and it just was really weird. Alia and Shahid's romance wasn't even really a romance, it was more of a friendship which is cute but I expected more romance in it. That's just me personally though! I think the movie could've been a lot better (even though I did like the movie).
