You know what makes Merlin so cheesy? Besides the plot that is. The music. The scene where they see Mordred alive would be much more effective without the obnoxious DUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNHORRORSOUNDTRACKOSCILLATOR. Because whoever didn't see that coming was an idiot and the music just makes it over dramatic. Blargh. IT WAS GETTING GOOD. And then nope. Also it would be nice if the world wouldn't end with every episode but that's like too much to ask almost.
