Holly: got any of those cheetos left?
Holly: I need carbs and we're all out of salted pretzels.
merrickwood replied to your post “Are you at all religious?”
Excuse me, I'm /right/ here, just waiting to be worshipped.
Believe me, babe, you don’t need me for that.

Holly: The Mayor noticed you missing and started making noise so I told her you were with the girls working on the booth for the carnival.
Holly: So if she asks...
Where: Riverside High Rooftop When: Sunday, 13th October, 5AM Who: Logan and Merrick
Logan wakes up to Merrick’s face above him—any other time, he might have made a joke about how it’s one of his favourite ways to be woken up, but the words die in his throat at the panic in her eyes. She’s saying something, talking at him more than she is to him, her words coming a mile a minute and much too fast for his still sleep-addled brain to process. But then he catches two words—she’s gone—and suddenly he’s wide awake, head almost knocking into Merrick’s at the speed he pushes himself up into a sitting position.
“Merrick, breathe,” he tells her, hands coming up to cup her face as her rambling tapers off into quiet hiccuping sobs. There’s a mixture of dread and terror brewing somewhere within him, but he ignores it for now, all his attention currently focused on calming his near-hysterical girlfriend, the pads of his thumbs catching her tears as they fall. “I need you to do something for me,” he tells her, leaning in to press their foreheads together. “Can you do that, baby?” Merrick nods, and he closes the distance between them to kiss her, nothing more than a soft brush of their lips before he pulls back again. “Match your breathing to mine, okay?”
She’s done it for him countless number of times, pulling him back from the edge when he’s too keyed up to touch her without being terrified of hurting her. She’ll put one hand on his face, the other over his heart, and just breathe with him until he calms down. Logan does the same for her now, one hand that had previously been cupping her jaw moving downwards until his palm lays flat on her breastbone, a solid weight against her shuddering ribcage.
starter for @merrickwood !
High school boys aren’t supposed to care about silly things such as anniversaries, but it’s hard to forget the memory of sitting on Merrick’s bathroom counter, the girl herself standing between his legs as she cleaned his split lip, their faces so close all he had to do was tip his head forward for their lips to meet. He doesn’t think he can forget June 28 even if he’d wanted to, the first time he’d ever looked at her and saw her and not just Holly’s baby sister forever seared into his mind.
Logan’s not much of a romantic—or so he claims—but Merrick tends to be the exception to every rule he’s ever set for himself, and this is no different. He’d texted his girlfriend earlier that day to tell her that he couldn’t make it to their planned date, and yet here he is, a box of chocolates in one hand, the other hand supporting his weight as he climbs up the trellis on the side of the Wood family home. Once upon a time, muscle memory would direct him to the window on the right, but times have changed, habit rewritten, and Logan manoeuvres himself towards the left instead, peering into the room to make sure Merrick is alone before tapping on the glass with the back of his knuckles—one short knock, followed by a longer one, and then two more consecutive short ones—to announce his presence.
( Why do you knock like that? she’d asked him once. It’s morse code for the letter ‘L’, he’d replied, laughing into her mouth as she’d kissed him. )
Her window is unlocked, and he slides it open easily, dropping into her bedroom with grace and practiced ease. It’s hard to believe they’ve only been apart for a week with how much his chest aches at the sight of her; she’s as beautiful as ever, and as always is the case when he’s in her presence, his feet bring him to her automatically, gravitating towards her like a meteorite pulled into orbit. “Surprise,” he whispers when he’s close enough, reaching to tug her towards him until the space between them has been reduced to nothing. “Happy anniversary, baby.”
