Okay, so I’ve been working on a fanfic inspired by @cupcakemyducktape ‘s au for about two days now and I really like the idea of mermaid or merfolk Deadpool/Wade I made some fanart.

Gone Fishin’— Chapter 3: Bait

“You don’t even like me.” Wade’s yellow eyes shift to the side a little, then straight back ahead. His stare burns holes in the cattails. “Why’s my life matter more to you than theirs? They’re living, too.”

He hears Logan swallowing behind him.

“The mosquitoes drive me crazy.” Logan replies. He pries off the last barnacle that he can see and chucks it into the lake. “Maybe this is why you’re so damn excitable all the time.”

Pathetically, Wade takes that as a compliment. Excitable. That’s maybe the nicest thing anybody’s ever said to him, actually.

Logan easily could have used a different word. Annoying, insufferable, a pain in the ass, anything… but he chose to say Wade’s just excitable, maybe the one single word that could get his point across without an inherent negative connotation.

Wade turns bright red at that.

for my merwade, he meets wolverine bcuz he saved him from sum science lab thing or something like that.

wade's been trapped there for a while. experiments to see how a merperson would react with human mutant genes possibly. wolverine hears something about sum kind of mutant experimentation maybe, and decides to check it out. their first meeting is a fight. logan's trying to get this heavy ass fish man to the sea, and wade thinks that even worse experiments are gonna happen to him or something. logan gets cut by those sharp lion fish spines. a lot. (he wouldn't normally attack. he's been too "trained" for that. but he's very panicked now)

eventually sumwhere during that logan manages to get him outside and into the sea. wade's immediately obsessed with him. he starts staying around beaches for the small hope he might see that guy who saved him some day. maybe he finds sum x-men comics or something that people leave on accident. maybe the x-men decide to have a beach day and he recognizes them. even if that guy who saved him isn't there he can probably ask about him.
