two weeks at the new barn.
we renovated the kitchen (no more plastic covering the walls and i learned to tile) and observed the spring: the migratory birds arrived, the mirabelles and cherries started to flower. i counted and in the last two years we planted 50 shrubs and trees (currants included but not the raspberries). the beds where we did the effort to dig out the grass and the bricks are doing much better than the ones we started with the no-dig technique (lay down cardboard, compost and mulch in the fall, plant in the spring), but they are getting there as well.
