Dimension Police Metalborg update
4 x Metalborg, Sin Buster
3 x Metalborg, Russel Blizzard
4 x Metalborg, Mist Ghost
2 x Commander Laurel ideally, but Metalborg, Yunbot or Metalborg, Death Blade
4 x Metalborg, Battle Roller
4 x Demon-eye Monster, Gorgon
4 x Metalborg, Black Nurse
Now let's have a look at the new Metalborg cards!
Metalborg, Valen Grader is a grade 3 that lets you go "nope, I'd rather ride this other guy" pretty much at will, as long as the other guy is a Legion Leader. And as a rearguard, you can soul blast with it to get +2k, which is...honestly not that useful for the power, just because you lack anything that can really leverage being behind a 13k attacker, but it's nice to help get more stuff in the drop so you can Legion. Given that Dryon is only in the deck because everything hinges on Legion, we'll be swapping it out for this.
Metalborg, Magmafork gains power depending on how many units are in the Vanguard circle, but only when you counterblast. This guy could stand in for Lionetter, since we technically no longer require it, and swinging for 15k is significant because of our 7k boosters. However, I would much rather spend that counterblast on Russel Blizzard to make sure my Legion abilities go off. Skip this one.
Metalborg, Hammer Hell is a bigger guard. It's okay, I guess, and I could see swapping it in for Yunbots, but I think I'd rather have the Yunbots.
Metalborg, Grass Cutter is a critical trigger. Definitely use this in your twelve crit line-up, along with the Battle Rollers. But as it turns out, that doesn't really matter too much, because...
Metalborg, Loco Battler is going to be our new starter! And since Blackboi was the only thing where having non-Metalborg triggers was an issue, there you go. The reason I say to use Lock Battler instead is because using Blackboi is kind of hard and expensive. I managed to make it pay off for me enormously once, when I went first. My opponent rode a grade 1, attacked and critted me. On my turn, I rode a Ur Buster, called a bunch of the Metalborgs I had in hand, and used Blackboi to immediately get to a Legioned Sin Buster while my opponent was on grade 1, and oh hey, 20k power means that the on-hit draw is active. And then just to rub it in I called a Dryon rearguard. But that was the one and only time I was actually able to use Blackboi, and the fact that I can use Loco Battler to clear out the spot behind the Vanguard and power it up at the same time? Super nice and much more useful.
Okay, so that's minimal changes. I guess trading out one of the G3s isn't really minimal changes, but seeing as you want to be on Sin Buster for the G0s only anyway? Yeah, shouldn't have too much impact. But the Metalborg things aren't the only cards in the set, so let's take a look at those, and why they would or would not be used.
Cosmic Hero, Grandfire is, I suppose, more flexible than Russel Blizzard. It provides a bigger boost, although not much bigger, and you can give it to anything. So what you can do here is, if you've got a 6k or 7k behind your vanguard, you can use Grandfire to put +4k on one of your vanguards, and give 4k to your other rearguard. If you still have Loco Battler behind your vanguard, then you can give +4k to both Sin Buster and Uru Buster. That way your total attack power is 33k, which is enough to activate the "G0s only" ability. You could put all 8k on the vanguard column, but that will get you 35k at best, and you'd need 36k to get another stage of power against most vanguards. Still, the option to do that is there. But the fact that this is locked behind Generation Break is actually an issue, due to the fact that this deck is not as Stride-happy, and even without any boost at all, a legioned Sin Buster has an on-hit threat, because it lets you draw. You can swap this in for Russel Blizzard or Lionetter, but I wouldn't do either.
Cosmic Hero, Granguard is the unflipper perfect guard for Dimension Police. Due to the fact that you have to break archetype for a perfect guard anyway, it is entirely up to you if you swap out Diamond Ace for this. I won't, but that's largely because I will be using my Granguards in my actual Cosmic Hero deck.
Cosmic Hero, Grandwagon lets you counterblast 1 and soul blast 1 to give something else +4k. It's already a 7k itself, so if you stick it behind Sin Buster, then you're guaranteed to be able to use it every turn. The problem is that you only have so much soul, and the same "the deck is not Stride reliant" thing that Grandfire does. Pass.
Operator Girl, Reika is a stand trigger in a deck that gives zero fucks about its rearguards. The skill is kind of nice, and you can easily get the 37k power you need thanks to Legion, but this is a deck that has tremendous vanguard pressure even without legion. This could go either way.
So that's why I didn't use any of the other stuff in the deck. If I didn't cover it, it's either not relevant or so awkward to work into things that it's not worth considering. However, while it is not technically a Cosmic Roar thing, I will bring up one of the recently revealed cards from Fighter's Collection 2015, which is nothing but G-Units: Super Metalborg, Heavy Duke. There really isn't much to say about this guy, just that he's really good, because you're either going to chew up a lot of cards from your opponent's hand, or you're going to draw two cards. Depending on how they guard, you may get lucky and do both because they guard and you get enough triggers to crack it! But don't count on doing both. Needless to say, do not Stride with this if you haven't Legioned. If you want the Stride units I think you should use given what we actually know, well, read the relevant bit from my Cosmic Hero post for the reasoning, the bottom line is "three Rogue, three Falcon, two Tiger, you can replace some Rogues or Falcons with Omegas."
So here's the updated version of the deck once this hits, and I will note that I should pay better attention to where cards are actually from. I assumed X Rogue was also in Cosmic Roar, but no, it is a Monthly Bushiroad thing. Hopefully we don't have to go through incredibly obtuse bullshit that may require a multi-hour road trip. But that's assuming Bushiroad ever learns how to run a fucking event in a country that's actually geographically large, and haha, fat chance of that ever happening. If X Rogue is not available without massive bullshit, then swap it out for whatever, it doesn't matter that much anyway. I won't talk about how to work in Duke until I know if there's more Metalborg specific stuff or what.
3 x Super Cosmic Hero, X Falcon
3 x Super Cosmic Hero, X Rogue
2 x Super Cosmic Hero, X Tiger
4 x Metalborg, Sin Buster
4 x Metalborg, Valen Grader
3 x Metalborg, Russel Blizzard
4 x Metalborg, Mist Ghost
2 x Metalborg, Yunbot or Metalborg, Death Blade, although you can replace one of these or X Blaise with a Laurel
4 x Metalborg, Battle Roller
4 x Metalborg, Grass Cutter
4 x Metalborg, Black Nurse
1 x Metalborg, Loco Battler
And that's how and why I'm going to change my Dimension Police Metalborg deck when Cosmic Roar comes out.
