Stuff labeled as stenchcore (which is really just a mixture of traditional metal and traditional crust, usually with a lot more metal in it) is really rare nowadays, but here we have two of the most prominent representatives of the genre on one release. Instinct Of Survival was always the one closer to crust in its pure form, however throughout the years they developed into a more sophisticated band. Probably I could place them somewhere between Amebix and Axegrinder, as there’s more metal in this than Amebix, but still has the same post-punk atmosphere at times. Pretty good stuff by them. Russia’s Fatum is something similar, as they also put some phasers on their guitars, but they’re obviously the ones closer to the other end of the spectrum. I don’t quite like them as much here as IOS, but their effort is also worth the mention. Highlights: IOS - Endzeit, Fatum - Death Holder FFO: Axegrinder, Amebix, Skagos

This is a Finnish band with whom i’ve never met before, but after hearing this album, i’ll keep an eye on them for sure. The name of the game is crust with metal elements, it’s pretty similar to Nuclear Devastation who i’ve wrote about yesterday, they keep the blackish vibes on a minimum though, if there’s a comparison to be had, i’d say it’s more to eary Unkind where they didn’t dive into post-metal. Really good effort.
