17. falling asleep while reading
Leonard has a list of bad habits — if overworking oneself to the brink of exhaustion would be considered a ‘habit’ — but seeing as he finds himself more often than not falling asleep at his desk because he refuses to just stop working at the end of his shift, especially when the bay is full of patients and the rest of his staff are as exhausted and overworked like himself.
At his desk after a double shift, he was reading the biobed reports on his PADD in his office, eyes drooping heavily as he assessed the reports - then suddenly jolting upright when his body follows suit, trying to get vertical to rest. Sleep is for the weak in Leonard’s eyes, and he furrows his eyebrows as he tries to concentrate, not letting fatigue get the best of him.
Sleep was winning though, 18 hours of being on his feet and even longer since he’d seen his own bed he rubbed his face before resting his head on his hand to prop it up to keep reading, blinks becoming longer after each close. He's so far gone he doesn't even hear his door open.
