there’s an absolutely unmistakable familiarity in voice he first hears, then hair he sees before she’s completely in sight of all three eyes of his. he definitely is under the impression it’s a joke -- there’s a part of him that knows it isn’t but he’s in a stubborn denial. though seeing someone he’s familiar with -- her of all people specifically -- keeps any frustrated feelings tucked down again from boiling over.

death is quite the hard subject for most to swallow and digest and yet she’s been around it all her life. despite it being such a natural occurrence it still hurts when loved ones are taken away. it’s a lovely festival to honour those who have passed and mend the relationships that have been broken but it does cause a bit of grief in the queen’s heart for the loss of her mother, her life as she knew it and for her husband and daughter still trapped in time somewhere without her. she never did take a moment to grieve when her mother was taken so quickly in the night when she was very young -- she hadn’t the time as she was swept into a marriage that was forced upon her and a kingdom that needed care.

with a heavy heart she finishes her letter to her mother’s memory for the boat lantern she’s to set sail. boat in hand she glances up as a familiar figure makes herself known on the beach.

❝ oh, hello, sweetie. were you joining in the festivities or just wandering. the flowers are quite the lovely touch, i must say. ❞

as far as he can help it anyway. he just relaxes and places an arm around her shoulders in an attempt to make her feel less alone and maybe a bit warmer. he’d always do what he could to comfort her – or try as best as he can at the very least – he knows the loneliness you can feel in this place despite being surrounded by people.

If You Buy A Girl A Mace | Priscilla and Star |

She had asked, casually, about how Star normally fought one day. When you buy a girl her first weapon in the city, probably go now due to the great migration, it does cause some curiosity. From what little Priscilla knew about nobility, and it really wasn’t much, she was pretty sure that they weren’t always trained in proper warfare. It probably was a good idea to make sure Star really know how to handle herself before she got her.

Anyway, that was the short story on how she ended up inviting her friend to spar. She stretched, deciding it was best to fight while unarmed. She only really knew how to used lethal weapons. Lethal and her damaged wooden sword. Yeah, she could handle hand to hand.
