I love that my mom follows my witchy advice not knowing it’s small acts of witchcraft

most of the time it’s for protection so i’m not complaining at all i just think it’s funny

here are some of my favorites

✩ no front door mats that say “Welcome” - i told her the exact reason for this and she just went along with it so it’s great!

✩ leaving an offering to the house as a “down payment” - we really wanted a house and since there was a chance we couldn’t get it i had everyone leave a few coins as an offering. WE GOT THE HOUSE and she never questioned a thing

✩ speaking things into existence and talking as if we already have it - she doesn’t believe in manifesting yet she does it all the time

✩ cleaning every time someone unwanted comes into our home - apparently my great grandmother did the same thing soooo

✩ the broom and guests! - broom falls over, we look at each other and says someone unexpected is coming over. I saw her put the broom upside down by the front door the other day when people were over late too

not to mention this woman is actively participating in glamor magic. she knows not to let anyone touch her hair.

MY DADS CAR ONCE CAUGHT ON FIRE BECAUSE OF HER!!! she told me so herself (everyone including the car is fine)

also she has had many experiences with mediumship and just casually says she knows something is about to happen and it does

i think people are more in tune than they even know and have just been taught to suppress it

I think my mixed heritage has really stunted my progress in regards to the religiosity of my practice. Being white mestiza is of course a hugely privileged position please do not misunderstand.

But I feel odd about approaching any deities that I might be conectes to by heritage.

Connecting to indigenous nahua religion feels like appropriation, partly because even my indigenous family didn’t, partly cause it is so often done by white Mexicans with no knowledge of indigenous practices that I feel it would be easy to fall into that myself.

But then connecting to the European side feels weird as hell! I never lived there, I do not even speak the language in most cases (euskera and Italian) and it feels like this weird “trying to be European” and not valuing the culture that I actually live in.

Anyway mestizaje was a lie and an attempt to erase indigenous people and steal their culture.

Idk how to even ask for advice here but I am putting it into the witch tags and if anyone has any tips, let me know.

(TO DELETE LATER) ~ My Seasonal Reminder for everyone, now that we are in Pride Month and many people are gonna be sharing Santa Muerte statues with rainbow colors to sell you stuff and books, that this book is a whole offense to Brujas and Bipoc authors everywhere.

It is not a Mexican Author "elder" behind this book, but a British white privileged woman and her American white man friend who is so arrogant to call himself "the biggest authority on La Santa Muerte" who wrote this.

And no editor, no publisher via email, and not pathetic soulless white bullies without understanding of Hispanic Culture, and definitely not white cis straight man with a blog gonna make me stop saying it ✌🏼

Not especially white bloggers offering money via DM to silence me.

Not care how many reviews you buy on AMZN this is a work without heart just make it to take the money from Bipoc readers looking to fool everyone.

This is a literal act of cowardice and black facing.

This work is a total offense to real devotees of La Santa Muerte.

PS: I appreciate a real devote of La Santa Muerte took the time to read the book and make a decent review with perspective, not another Instagram influencer who Just make a video to sell you the book they didn't even read 👎🏽
