Mexico reached an installed capacity of 1300 MW
In five years, Mexico could become a power in the wind industry since then have developed an ecosystem of manufacturing and manufacturing of aerospace components similar to, because of the potential market that is generated by the construction of infrastructure to generate energy wind.
According to data from the Mexican Wind Energy Association (AMEE), companies like Vestas, Gamesa and Acciona, among others, are in serious plans to set up plants in the country, designed specifically to manufacture parts for wind turbines, such and as they now do business in the aviation industry, while firms such as General Electric and Siemens, which manufactured in Mexico, could add such plans in the medium and long term.
The future needs the cooperation of the federal government, specifically the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), in order to increase the power line that allows the transmission of power to the national grid, as well the development of a new value chain depend on maintaining a pace of growth in the installed capacity of wind farms in the country, to add 500 to 1,000 megawatts of electricity per year.
The momentum of a new industry, that includes making such complex components such as turbines or blades, requires competitive costs therefore not ruled northern cities for the installation of these plants, as this would provide attractive logistics costs for export, mainly to the United States.
This year 2012 already has a total installed capacity of 1300 megawatts, which represents a significant advance since 2009, because at least 2 percent of the energy generated in the country and comes from wind.
This year joined about 800 megawatts of capacity, derived from various projects not only from the Federal Electricity Commission, but also from private companies.
In five years, will develop the first wind power equipment manufacturing plant.
Querétaro, Baja California and part of the border are being considered for the installation of these manufactures. Already under development and construction 600 megawatts more that could be attached to the national grid in the next few months.
