Ppl are seriously saying michael is doing "brown face" in assassin's creed...what the fuck...? Is it bc aguilar's face is darker than callum's? Bc that is basically make up to make him look dirty...he looks just like he did in macbeth...or is it bc ppl still don't understand that spanish ppl are not from latin america? I am confused lmao

People on tumblr just love to start drama and complain and if they can do it in the name of “social justice” even better!!

They made him a little darker to play Aguilar and also gave him brown contacts.  But I mean, there wasn’t sunscreen back in the 1500s and the contacts are an easy way to change up his appearance so it’s clear they’re two different ‘people’.  

But yeah, it’s just not brownface.  Spain is and has been historically very diverse (so has Latin America, incidentally, there are blonde haired blue eyed Latins, y’know, lol), and many people there come from the same European decent and historical tribes that people from France/Germany/Austria/etc hail from.  Many Spaniards are white Europeans. Which Michael definitely is, lol.

I’m interested to hear him speak some lousy Spanish as Aguilar though, haha! Going by what we’ve heard from XMFC it’s not that bad.  Those S’s though…. lord.

IMO the fact that they’re keeping the historical scenes in Spanish dialogue says a lot about how they feel regarding representation.
