what are your thoughts on severus snape? and more so, him being headcanoned as jewish?

Hey! Thank you for that question:)

In general, I don't really like Snape, obviously as an adult but also as a child, at best I just don't mind him.

I'm not going to get into a debate of "marauders vs Snape" because either are great good, and what we know from the books doesn't make a lot of sense, so most canon-based arguments don't really work. I mostly think that his trauma does not justify any of his morally wrong acts.

As for the Headcanon of him being Jewish - I feel like there's a problem with that.

Big nose and greasy hair, poor (economic status stereotypes goes both ways in antisemitic tropes), untrustworthy, hidden motives etc. - all are antisemitic stereotypes.

But that doesn't mean it's unarguably wrong to HC him as such, since some Jewish people do HC him as Jewish. Maybe @poitionsprince can add on the opposite opinion if they want:)

I'll sum up by saying that doesn't matter the character, if you want to HC them as Jewish (or any ethnicity for that matter), you should really sit with yourself for a moment and think: what things about this character makes me HC them as Jewish? Why do they give me Jewish vibes? And then do a research about antisemitic stereotypes, because most likely the HC is rooted with unconscious antisemitism.

Our fan project needs a team!

It's the end of August already, which means the MfJ project is officially one year old!

In the MfJ tumble community we already gained 80 members, which is INSANE.

This first year was all about building a community, but now we want to start and MAKE THE CHANGE.

but for that to happen we need a team.

The job of the team would be to brainstorm and build together (virtual) events like fests and competition, all in order to further out goal of better Jewish representation and safety in the marauders spaces.

I assume you meant the MfJ project, which is short for Marauders for Jews project.

It's a project I started almost a year ago, and the idea came from seeing the amount of antisemitism in the marauders fandom.

I wanted to create a space that encourages good Jewish representation in the marauders fandom.

Hey! That's a great question:)

The most common character to be HCed as Jewish are Remus and Lily.

My personal edition to these two is also Mary McDonald.

would you please elaborate what you're looking for? HCs about certain characters you HC as Jewish, HCs you already saw and what to invest more, in magic world/AUs...?
