5000 Candles in the Wind - MG Down (Mouse Rat cover) So last week at the RC Players benefit concert I covered 5000 Candles in the Wind from the 3rd season of Parks and Recreation. I'm pretty sure only half of the audience knew what it was, but the half that did get it loved it. It's moments like this when I wish I could harmonize with myself like I can when I multitrack recordings of songs. Oh well :)

So it's my birthday. I'm 23.

I set out to cover this song because that's just the sort of thing I find funny, but as it turns out I really identify with these lyrics. The idea of not taking things to seriously and growing old but not necessarily growing up really speak to me. Maybe it's just some weird early 20s crisis I'm going through. haha

Anyway, I recorded this and had fun with it. I will try to keep posting more stuff soon. My friend Elyse  inspired me to post more to my tumblr, and my friend Greg inspired me to put more musical creations out there in the world. Thank you to you both and to all of my other friends.

So this was the second song I learned for ukulele about a week and a half ago. It's fun to play and a good song. Also, my new hat is pretty darn cool if I do say so myself.
