familiar
the place isn’t as crowded, which is something he’s is thankful for. he’s always made a conscious effort not to go to the red bean during rush hours. the place is quite a favorite among everyone, so it’s almost always full. max makes sure he comes by when there’s less patrons, so he can enjoy his drink in a bit of peace. he’ll be out of there just before the next rush hour starts anyway, so he makes the most out of his time there.
is he a regular? he should be, right? because the smiles he gets from the people at the counter is almost familiar. it never fails to make him smile back - out of genuine kindness more than anything, of course. max knows how to appreciate a warm welcome when he sees one. it’s a rarity for him these days, anyway. feeling courageous, he takes one of the spots on the bar, eyes on the menu board in case he’s in the mood for something else other than his usual iced macchiato. ah, must be his lucky day, too. his favorite barista is here. (not that the other guy knows.
“hello,” he starts, sounding awkward. he never said his socializing has improved, after all. “an iced macchiato, please!”
