Perth, Australia -- Mia June will be releasing her debut EP Don't Forget Your Bags on November 17 via Father/Daughter. This week, she released another single off the upcoming record, "Freckled Friend Forever." The tender song spans just about 3 minutes long and its minimalist instrumental create the perfect synthesis with June's vocals. From the light plucking of the acoustic guitar to the soft strings, "Freckled Friend Forever" is a melancholic reflection. There's a preciousness to this song that June captures perfectly with her near-whisper vocals, like sharing an intimate secret you'll keep forever.
Don't Forget Your Bags by Mia June
"This song is about waiting too long to let someone know your feelings about them as you want ‘the perfect time’ to tell them, and then going to tell them and realizing the time has passed and you are too late," she explains. "I wrote it when I was 17 during my first weekend away without my family, at Nannup Music Festival. I have always had a soft spot for this song and its gentleness."
