Beaches Jazz Festival: Workshop by @occhipintimusic and @pilar_tw for @beachesjazz on "Turning Pop and World Roots Music into Jazz". Intimate audience in church basement. Michael Occhipinti started with recordings of original pop songs (Broadway, Beatles), compared to jazz interpretations. Pilar joined for duos with selections from the Sicilian Jazz Project repertoire. Jazz performer celebrates songs of winter: The Markham Jazz Festival is promising an intimate jazz evening, “Welcome the Season: An Encore Evening with Kellylee Evans — Celebrating the Canadian Songbook and the Winter Season”.
Ms Evans, a 2011 Juno Award nominee, closed the Markham Jazz Festival this past August and her performance is still being talked about, organizers say.
She will be accompanied by Giampaolo Scatozza on drums, John Maharaj on bass and MJF artistic director Michael Occhipinti on guitar.
