Stand Off
The reader is a witness in a case against Benny. The lawyer takes it too far and pushes the reader to say something they’ve been hiding. A/N – I’m basing this off the episode of suits I watched. Word Count – 582 Characters – Benny x Reader ‘Do you love him?’ Mr. Leeds asked. As you sat on the stand. ‘What?’ You asked as you looked up from your hands. ‘You heard me. Do you love him?’ He repeated the question. ‘I, what?’ You stuttered. ‘You had a boyfriend, yes?’ He changed the question, walking in front of the jury, whom were looking at you with criticism. ‘Yes.’ You said nodding your head. ‘He left you?’ He asked and you nodded you heard. ‘Yes.’ You said. ‘Why?’ He asked, coming back to you. ‘That’s none of your business.’ You said getting annoyed with the questions. ‘It is. Everything is part of the case.’ Mr Leeds said his brows creasing as he started at you. ‘Objection.’ You heard Benny say, you didn’t look to him. ‘Why did he leave you?’ He asked, standing in front of you causing you to focus in him. ‘I put my work life before my personal.’ You said looking him in the eyes, crossing your arms on the stand on front of you. ‘So you chose Benny over your boyfriend?’ Leeds asked and you quickly turned to face him as he looked over the jury. ‘What? Why are you asking me?’ You questioned him, as he was asking questions that weren’t usually asked in court. ‘We need to know, everything.’ Leeds said as he came closer to you. ‘Fine, you want to know anything ask me.’ You said challenging him. ‘How long have you worked for him?’ He asked simple, you know they could and would get more in depth. ‘5 years.’ You stated. ‘How many boyfriends over the years?’ he asked as he leaned onto the stand in front of you. ‘3.’ You said again. ‘All serious?’ He asked and you nodded your head, seeing Benny getting frustrated. ‘But they never seem to last, what, more than 1 year at a time.’ He said as he stepped back up and walked over to the jury. ‘That’s true.’ You said honestly. ‘Is there a reason?’ He asked again. ‘Yes, I put other things before my romantic life.’ You said to him as you looked over to the jury and then over to Benny and Jason. ‘Like what?’ Leeds asked you. ‘My work.’ You said to him. ‘Your work or your boss?’ Leeds asked and you could hear the jury take a deep breath, you stiffened slightly. ‘Work.’ You said annoyed. ‘So you don’t like him.’ He asked. ‘I told you before, no.’ You said and looked around the courtroom. ‘But you love him.’ He asked and you hesitated to answer. ‘Yes or no, Y/N?’ He asked as he watched your figure tighten and go ridged. ‘I cannot love him.’ You said looking him in the eyes. ‘Why because he’s your boss?’ Leeds asked. ‘Yes sir.’ You told him and he nodded, turning away. He walked a step away before he suddenly turned around and shouted. ‘Tell us if you love him.’ He said. You jumped and you had, had enough. Your hands dropped to your side and you looked over to Benny and Jason before looking at the jury. ‘Yes. I love him. How couldn’t you? He kind, caring and everything someone looks for in a partner. He didn’t do any of the things you are accusing him of.’ You said loudly. Once you were finished you sighed and looked at your knees. ‘Thank you Y/N, case dismissed for the day.’ The judge said and you nodded your head before standing up and walking away.
You were standing in the hall way waiting for the elevator to arrive when you heard footstep behind you. ‘Y/N?’ You heard him say. ‘Save it Benny.’ You said and the doors opened, you walked in and turned to face him. You stood in the centre waiting for the doors to close, you watched as he looked at you intensely. Once the doors closed and you started crying, you had just told the whole room that you were in love with your boss. This wasn’t going to end well. The doors opened on the bottom floor and you made your way past security and out into the fresh air. You hauled a taxi and got in telling them your address in which they sped off to.
