Australia Grand Prix Preview: Previous Memorable Moments
This weekend sees the start of the 2012 season and it all starts in Melbourne. Here we look at some moments from previous years;
Brundle's crash in 1996
Martin Brundle had been lucky to escape from this crash in 1996 where his car cart-wheeled over other cars and broke his Jordan in half. Brundle ran back to the pits after to use the spare car for the restart.
Eddie Irvine's first career victory in 1999
Irvine's first career victory came in 1999 and several drivers could have won this one. Schumacher and Barrichello launched strong challenges but it was Heinz Harald Frentzen who pushed him hardest.
Ralf Schumacher causes accident in 2002
Again like Brundle above, Ralf Schumacher was lucky to survive this accident which then caused eight cars out of the race at turn one. Mark Webber came home fifth in his debut with Minardi.
Michael Schumacher broke lap record TWICE
Michael Schumacher broke the lap record twice in practice back in 2004. His first lap broke the record and then his second lap he lowered it again by a second. Within 5 minutes Ferrari showed they would dominate all year.
