Location: A frozen corner of Hell.

My fellow sentiences, we are gathered here today to join @graveyarddirt in her celebration of Michaelmas for the year 2020. My contribution will be Garlic & Rosemary Pork with Apples in a slow cooker. This is slightly modified from the recipe at https://aprettylifeinthesuburbs.com/fall-meals-garlic-rosemary-roasted-pork/

As I work today and have too little time after for the cooking of a feast, I put everything in the slow cooker this morning as documented below. (Please forgive the long post. The app removed the ability to add a "read more" break.)

2 Granny Smith apples, sliced to cover the bottom of the pot. What you don't see is the tablespoon of olive oil covering the steel underneath to keep the apples from sticking. (Hopefully.)

The original recipe calls for 2 cloves of garlic. Not in this house! Six large cloves have been sliced and thrown about the pot. I kept the count conservative as this is my first time with this recipe.

(Funny enough, I was compelled to put aside the "paper" from these six cloves specifically and save them.)

Because the slow cooker tends to muffle spices, I've learned to "overdo" it going in. 1 Tablespoon of thyme and rosemary. 2 teaspoons of salt and pepper. (Do not underestimate Penzeys Telicherry Pepper. Just, don't.)

The pork pieces were also seasoned lightly as they went in the pot. 3 lbs of pork shoulder bits at rest.

A final layer of sliced Granny Smith apples to sandwich the flavor. Ever get the feeling that something is too simple? That's me at this point. How apropos that one of the themes of the day is "faith".

I may yet only go to 6 (examinable) lectures, rather than 7. I intend to cut out a couple (down to about 4-5 total) after a couple weeks, but even still 7 courses is a lot. I suppose I can always cut out one of the courses after only a few lectures if I find it completely painful...
