THE MIGHTY MOS AND MICHAEL STERLING EATONS UNDERGROUND CLASSIC " WHITE DRAPES" PRODUCED BY MICHAEL STERLING EATON
Watercolor Werewolf is the collaboration between super-producer/artist Scoop Deville and world famous multi-media artist/producer/creative director Michael Sterling Eaton. The two have brought together their unique backgrounds to create modern abstract art through music. Taking cues equally from Devo, Talking Heads and Bauhaus as well as hip-hop and dance music, Watercolor Werewolf is an ode to 80's art school rock, especially its method of creativity. "Our philosophy is to be more like abstract painters when we create music." says Eaton. "We're less worried about making hits with contemporary pop structure, than we are about emotional response to the sounds." Presented more as a traditional rock group, the songs here were recorded live in the Neonostalgia Studio, deep in the snow capped mountains of Southern California. So, the process was uncompromised by the typical multi-track sessions lending an instinctive feel. "Almost 100% of our music was done in one take, not just with the vocals but the entire song." says Deville. "Allowing the raw essence of our collaboration to shine through." The duo shared production and vocal dues allowing them to be fluid and unrestricted during the sessions, atypical for each of the producers who often work to establish the best performances once their collaborator MCs have left the studio. Scoop Deville well-known producer of tracks for Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes is hot off of recent Billboard rap hit "The Recipe" with Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre and Kendrick's current hit single climbing the charts as we speak "Poetic Justice" featuring Drake. Michael Sterling Eaton is producer of tracks for Mos Def, Curren$y and newcomer Ernie Gaines as well as creative director, video director and photographer for numerous artists, actors and brands. Together they formed Watercolor Werewolf as a natural offshoot for each of them to explore new musical ideas, challenge any pigeonholing. "Much like watercolor blends colors, Watercolor Werewolf genres. We allow the process to happen organically. Nothing in this is predetermined, everything is off the top. So, the werewolf represents the primal side in all of us. This is our attempt to get back to the raw emotions, the simple methods of being artists - before commerce, above corporate bottom lines. "Watercolor Werewolf is taking back artist freedom, giving expression back to the animal. "Transmissions from the 5th Dimension" is the first bite. Monster Mash the debut full-length, is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2013 featuring some major surprises.
