Basic Block Battles:
Basic Block Battles (hereafter B3) is a game for battling with toys such as construction bricks.
The Two Commandments: Rule 1: No using a ruler. When in doubt, round up. Rule 2: No checking the rules. When in doubt, guess.
Army building: There are two rules for building your army: * All players must agree to a maximum number of units. * Each unit has 2 hands. ✋✋ They can equip whatever they want within that limit. All equipment takes up one or more hands, even if it logically wouldn't. For example, body armor counts as a Shield and so takes up a hand.
Turn flow: On your turn, every living unit in your army can move 5 inches and attack once. When a unit attacks, choose a target within the weapons range and roll a six-sided die and check the Hit score of the weapon used. If the number rolled is equal to or less than the Hit value, the attack hits the target and kills them; knock dead units over.
Weapons: Sword: ✋ A one-handed melee weapon. Range: Melee (1"); Hit: 4.
Big Sword: ✋✋ A two-handed melee weapon or two one-handed melee weapons. Range: Melee (1"); Hit: 5. Special: Instead of attacking once, you can attack twice with Hit: 3.
Gun: ✋ A one-handed ranged weapon. Range: Long (10"); Hit: 3.
Big Gun: ✋✋ A two-handed ranged weapon or two one-handed ranged weapons. Range: Long (10"); Hit: 4. Special: Instead of attacking once, you can attack twice with Hit: 2.
Bomb: ✋ A limited use explosive weapon. Range: Short (5'); Hit: 4 (discard bomb on 1). Special: Attack everyone within 2 inches of target at Hit: 2; roll once for each target.
Med-gun: ✋ A strange medical device. Range: Short (5'); Hit: 3. Special: Med-gun attacks must target dead units. If the attack hits, the unit is revived; stand them up. If not, they are destroyed; remove them from the game completely. (You think this is literally the exact opposite of a weapon? Too bad, it counts.)
Shield: ✋ A personal protective device. Range: Melee (1"); Hit: 5. Special: Shield attacks don't kill units; instead, move hit units up to 3 inches in any direction. Effect: Units with shields block attacks that roll exactly their Hit value. (See the note on the Med-gun regarding Shields being weapons.)
Heroes: Heroes are special units. They have two special powers: * They have three hands instead of two. ✋✋+✋ * They wear a fancy Hat. The first time they are hit, the attack destroys their Hat without harming them. However, Heroes have a major drawback: their ego. They demand to be paid twice as much as everyone else and therefore count as two units in your army.
