Najuma and the Echo of Elderwood
a short Palia fanfic that sees canon as a very vague suggestion.
According to some reports, Umbraa had fired the first flow missile. Other sources had claimed the Palian Republic underhandedly started the Second Palian War from the shadows, assassinating key figures until battle became inevitable. Whoever was to blame, neither side could have predicted what a stray explosion breaching the Elderwood would cause. The contamination, known as ‘echo’, had flowed out and spread with the wildlife, turning some of the beings it touched into its own dark monsters. While majiri were not affected, touching echo caused severe burns that did not seem to heal, and getting caught in it was deadly.
