Midi Hack #2
Last weekend was full of brainstorming, coding, experimenting and cool people! I’m glad to have taken part in MidiHack #2. <3
MIDI HACK is a celebration to the protocols (such as midi, osc & cv) and technologies that are the backbone of analog and digital music creation.
Here's the brief video demonstration I made for BeatFlux, my project at MIDI Hack 2014 (In case my 'live' demonstration goes wrong! This is both possible and likely).
Your hands are tracked as you play on virtual percussive keyboards layered in different banks in front of you. You can grab sections of your performance and loop them, then jam over the top with other sounds. Gestural control from accelerometers on your hands gives you control of effects and beatmashing.
Made in Max MSP & Max 4 Live - let me know if you want the source to screw around with, although to get it up and running without a lot of work you will need a GameTrak and at least one Numark ORBIT.
Fingers crossed for the live demo! If it doesn't go wrong for a technical reason, it is quite likely that I will fall asleep on-stage as I have been up for 28 hours.
Invites to MIDIHACK, Mapping Festival and Adobe HQ all in one day!
