SO WEIRD how this ~totally platonic~ situation never came up with say, Elrond and Durin, but it HAD to happen with him and Galadriel. There was no other way!
Frey Pies is still unconfirmed in the books. They did kind of a half-assed version in the show so people talk about it like it's canon.
Got it! I didn't realize they had done it in the show (I'd stopped watching by that point), but from the way GRRM presented the book scene, my brain made the leap that it was actually confirmed canon xD Thank you to you and @musing-and-music for keeping me up to date on what's accurate to the books!
I'd love to know your thoughts about Ser Criston Cole. I was listening to video that introduced me to the theory that he was planted in Rhaenyra's life as a spy. I think it really fits.
Just how he went out of his way to impress her at that first tourney. Whatever else I can say about Otto Hightower, he was a very shrewd man. I think he could see that book!Rhaenyra, as a young princess was very into knights who wanted to fawn over her. Young Rhaenyra had a little of Sansa in her.
And of course Rhaenyra begins to fall in love with him as she grows a little older. In the story we're lead to believe that Rhaenyra hit on Criston Cole and he was so honorable and offended that he stormed off and left her service to join the Greens.
I don't buy that at all! I think his real purpose was to seduce and ruin her and that she rejected him. That would have been a good argument to have her removed as heir. Especially since kind of the same situation played out years before with King Jaehaerys and his daughter Viserra.
Sorry @midnightinjapan for the late reply.
So far in HOTD I do like Ser Criston Cole, but I pretty much despise him in F&B, which is the same reaction I'm having with Alicent as well. Admittedly, I like the theory that Ser Criston was in Otto's employ from the beginning, and I do think it would make sense for the complete heel turn, but I'm not convinced this will play out in the show. I think it's entirely possible and open to interpretation in the books though. However, we did discover in 1x04 of HOTD that Mysaria is working with Otto, which makes people wonder if she was always informing on Daemon to Otto from the beginning. Considering she was the one to convince Daemon to make the speech in the brothel after Aemma's funeral, it does make you wonder if she was the one that told Otto about "heir for the day". So if this is the case, it would make sense that Otto would also have more informants on Rhaenyra, ones that are in the position to know her more intimately as a confidant (especially when Rhaenyra is on the outs with Alicent), which Ser Criston turns into. They've clearly become friends during the last four years. However, if Criston is informing on Rhaenyra to Otto, I think it probably wouldn't have been from the very beginning, but from the time he became a Kingsguard. Honestly, considering his lower birth I would think Otto would have at least approached him and tried to entice him with money, etc. for doing so. So far, I'm not sure if it's in Ser Criston's character though. He seems to value Rhaenyra for making him a Kingsguard, but I can't quite help liking the idea that Ser Criston may be informing on Rhaenyra since he became a Kingsguard but since then he has grown to legitimately care and love her. It would make some really good internal conflict. But at the same time, after the latest episode, he's already been given some internal conflict because he gave into his desires and broke his vows by doing so.
I guess we'll have to see though. I do think we'll find out one way or the other in the next episode of HOTD, and honestly I'm okay with whatever interpretation or creative license they may be doing with his character. But like I said, it's definitely open to interpretation in F&B. :D
I could have gone MY WHOLE LIFE without knowing who the hell Wang Yibo is but you had to expose me to him!
Hahaha I'm not sorry I made you watch The Untamed with me 😘😘😘😘
I became egg intolerant in March of 2015 and I've notice that my symptoms are getting worse when I eat something that contains egg. The symptoms are honestly terrible if I dare to eat eggs straight. I wanted to ask if you were able to eventually eat a small amount by cutting eggs out of your diet completely for a while?
I was yes, but it’s not the egg itself that’s the problem for me, it’s my histamine intolerance. I had to fix/am fixing the parts of my health that are causing me to have random food issues. So for me, it’s not a true allergy or food intolerance, it’s my body being out of whack cause I don’t process histamine properly.
You might find cutting it out entirely helps you. But it’s also possible you’ve developed an allergy or intolerance and that cutting it out means you’ll react worse the next time you try it. My advice would be to try and talk to either a food allergist or a licensed nutritionist. Food stuff is weird and sucky, and I’m sorry you’re dealing with it, friend. Best of luck!
I would also like to put it out there that Catra is 100% a Hufflepuff trying to be a Slytherin.
I can definitely accept the concept of Catra as a burned Hufflepuff in a way I cannot accept a Slytherin Adora. But while I think reasonable arguments can be made for Hufflepuff, I’m still inclined to say Catra is actually a Slytherin, in large part because of how she approaches personal loyalty and morality. But I’m also not super passionate about it, so I don’t feel the need to argue for it.
