i love ghibli movies! and arrietty is actually the next one i want to see, my mom loved the borrowers when she was a kid so i want to watch it with her! i haven’t watched it but i can already tell it’s underrated

Remember Me - Did you make anyone laugh today?

Not sure? The last time I remember making anyone laugh was when I was telling my mother a story about something that happened to me that day.

So I got a new mattress for my bed 2 days ago, which is a lot comfier than my old mattress but also a lot taller (thicker? idk). Now the ceiling above my bed is sloped, so when my mother saw the new mattress she warned me I’d have to be careful to not hit my head on the ceiling (which I’ve already done more times than I care to admit) but I just brushed the warning off, basically going “Eh, I’m sure it’ll be fine”. Of course the next morning I woke up, bolted upright to turn my alarm off like I always do, and immediately (and painfully) smacked my head on the ceiling.

That unfortunate series of events (and the irony of the disregarded warning coming true so quickly) got a “Oh no!” and a small laugh from my mother.

Music or silence: Silence. Leone has a few CDs that they listen to on long journeys (mostly classic rock), but they've never found silence particularly lonely. Instead they find that silence just provides them with the perfect time to think and reflect on stuff.

Swords or spells: Oh, Leone's definitely a sword bi/pansexual. They're a bit of a nerd and have been to a few renaissance fairs over the years where they've been seriously tempted by some of the shoppes selling handcrafted swords. The only reason they haven't bought one yet is that a sword isn't really the kind of thing to leave lying around in a van, but when Leone get a proper house of their own...

Cities or nature: Nature. Leone spent a lot of time parked out in fields whilst living in their van, where they loved to just peacefully sit and watch the birds (and the occasional bat or fox at night). They haven’t decided what they’ll do after they’ve got their degree, but they’ve seriously considered going into conservation because of their love of being out in nature. Not that they mind cities - they're just more of a country person, given that they grew up on a small fruit farm with their parents.

What can make your OC smile even when they’re feeling down? / What cheers them up and makes everything feel better for them? - Playing games, especially tabletop RPGs and board games (which is how Leone formed a lot of their friendships). It's hard for them to engage in their hobby when they're on the road, but Leone likes to stop by board game cafes and gaming centres whenever they can because it always cheers them up.

Is your OC generally a happy person and do they enjoy making others smile? - No, Leone is generally quite serious. They had to grow up quite fast with being a full-time carer for their mother as a teenager and then after she died they struggled a lot with depression and grief up until their mid-20′s, so they’re not the most optimistic and carefree person. Leone definitely has things which make them happy (as above), but their base mood is neutral or even a bit grumpy.

Leone also doesn't tend to make people smile that often. Of course Leone feels good when they make someone smile, and they're sometimes quite funny in a sarcastic way - but they rarely actually try to make a joke.

What about your OC makes others happy? - Leone often comes off as intimidating and a bit cold, though this is (mostly) unintentional. However Leone's been through a lot and tends to knows what people need to hear when they’re feeling down - so when their friends are going through difficult times, Leone tends to be who they go to for wise advice and words of comfort.

Leone’s closest friends also treasure making someone who's usually quite serious crack a smile or even burst out laughing, rare sight that it is.

Who is your OC’s favourite person? Why is this person the top of their list and have they actually met them? - Leone has a lot of respect and affection for their mother, who raised Leone with basically no help from their dad whilst battling a terminal illness. Even though the last few years of her life were very difficult on Leone, they remember her fondly as a patient and kind woman who loved to bake and tend to the plants in her flower garden (particularly her lilies, which were her favourite).

(Leone’s dad and mother never divorced, but their dad was very emotionally neglectful and might as well have not lived with them. His refusal to help out his wife with basic household chores even when she was terminally ill was one of the main points of conflict between him and Leone)

let’s see... he was born in at the very end of summer / beginning of fall (like september 20th?? ok that’s his birthday now), so i guess that would make him a virgo

not to spoil gen 3, but curling up on the couch in front of the fireplace drinking a warm beverage and reading a cozy mystery, his mastiff’s head on his lap
