Since meeting those few times at her party, the Romance Festival and her Meet & Greet, Heather and Dirk regularly chatted with each other, sending texts and calling each other. They got to know each other better and better, even flirting a little in their texts and on the phone. Heather wished she could see Dirk more often, but he had to travel regularly to do his research for his articles and her own calendar was packed with concerts.
One evening, when they were on the phone, Dirk asked her to keep the coming Sunday evening free in her calendar as he wanted to take her somewhere. He was being quite mysterious about their destination, but Heather didn’t hesitate a second to agree to a meet up with him. “Great, I’m looking forward to it alread,” Dirk had responded. He only added “Oh, you’ll need to be dressed in your formal wear,” before saying his goodbyes and leaving Heather looking puzzled at her phone. Formal wear?
But as agreed, Heather waited for Dirk, dressed in her formal dress that Sunday in the early evening. Dirk picked her up, well, to be more accurate, a limo with a grinning Dirk in it picked her up. Heather felt like a real star, getting in that limo and sitting next to Dirk, being handed a glass of very nice nectar. They drove out of San Myshuno and after a long drive (but Heather wouldn’t have minded driving all night, sitting in that limo with Dirk in that very smart suit), they arrived at the Starlight Hall in Del Sol Valley.
Heather mouth fell open when she stepped out of the limo and realised where she was.
Dirk (smiling from ear to ear): “Welcome to the Starlight Hall and to the Starlight Accolades!”
Heather (covering her open mouth): “We’re really at the Starlight Accolades?” (punching herself internally for forgetting about the Starlight Accolades in the first place)
Dirk (unable to stop smiling): “Yup, I was nominated for an Accolade and there’s no-one I’d rather spend the next hours with anxiously waiting for the results than you.”
Heather felt her cheeks turning hot and red and realised she was lost for words. Dirk took her arm and started to direct her to the entrance, speaking softly “Come on, let’s go inside. It’s pretty chilly and your dress is stunning, but not very warm.”
