Another Beautiful Drive
The spectacular drives just keep coming. Haines Road runs from Haines AK to Haines Junction YK.
On our way out of town we wanted to stop at the Kroschel Wildlife Centre. Down narrow Mosquito Lake Road we went. Damn it’s closed, now we have to find a place to turn these rigs around around. Ahh. the local schoolyard. Once we turned around we got out to stretch our legs. Wow; a cacophony of either wolves or coyotes howling & answering each other.
Up the road we continued. The Haines Highway borders on the west Glacier Bay National Park (AK), Tatshenshini-Alsek Park (BC) and Kluane National Park (YK), which together contain the largest non-polar icefields in the world. The views are spectacular.
The “Three Guardsmen” were standing guard in all their glory.
On into the Yukon we stopped for lunch & a lovely hike to Million Dollar Falls.
Then the clouds started to build & the rain imminent as we rolled into Haines Junction.
