Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube Episode 26 Review (Season Finale) - The Demon Hand
Nube is a super underrated anime. I feel like horror fans should be hyping this series more. Anyways, the season finale of the second half is crazy good in that we finally solve the mystery of Episode 15 of why Nube couldn’t save Minako when he went back in time. It’s because the demon that became his left hand, Baki, also had Minako’s spirit within it. In a sense, she’s trapped in his left hand too.
It was nice to see that Minako wasn’t completely dead after that whole ordeal. Yes, she’s considered dead in the human world, but her psychic powers allow her to live on as a spiritual specter that was taken to hell along with the Toubyou yokai. Because of her powers, she gets consumed by Baki, showing that the demons in Hell are not kind at all. It’s crazy how she spent over a decade trapped inside its body before finally making a move. The ending of the episode does make it seem as if Nube will somehow save her later on; it gives an open-ended possibility.
Gosh, I’m surprised with how Studio Kai went all out on the animation for this final episode. Nube’s moving around as if he’s in some battle shounen anime. Though, that scene where his left hand was shown to be obliterated was crazy gruesome. I also really like how the kids moved around too, when they were trying to protect the Nube of the past. It was sweet too. The kids love him so much that they don’t care if they’re only seeing a glimpse of his memory—they do NOT want to see Nube losing to a yokai and will throw hands for him. It just shows how much Minako’s guidance have helped him throughout his life and a culmination of how he never faltered even when losing the one person he cared about the most.
Tamamo seems to have gained a new respect for Nube once he learned how his Demon Hand came to be and what the real source of his strength is—the power to keep moving forward even with all the losses he endures. I found it cute how he was exasperated when the kids were shouting at the memory and then he does the same and the kids look at him like he’s crazy. He also deserves respect for helping seal the left hand after witnessing the memory.
I do wonder if there will be more seasons. I certainly enjoyed this second half. I feel like it’d be a waste to not to a complete remake of an already completed manga. Remake animes usually do a complete adaptation, so I do wonder if there will be more later on. If it gets announced, I’m definitely watching it. If you have watched Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube, let me know your thoughts on the finale and the second half as a whole!
