after going off to the deepest corners of jp engirls twt with the help of deepl i finally found a kinda important plot point for the futaba twins

basically, due to them being twins, they were excluded and bullied by their peers– up to this point, its just 2winks backstory but with blue girls instead of orange boys, right?

but heres the thing, at some point, in order to protect both herself and her sister, mizuki started spreading around rumors– "we're the creepy twins! don't come near us!", that way others wouldnt bother the two of them again, but, of course, this made the two of them feel lonely

i also want to add, while mizuki was the one who spread the rumors, minazuki followed along, since she had always followed mizuki and trusted their judgement

... maybe that could be the reason why they had acted in that "creepy" way in the first sections of the main story? is that the "creepy twins act" the two of them crafted to protect themselves showing up? bc if so. that explains a lot. pain

reading through minazuki's info page on pixiv using deepl bc the brainrot is consuming me:

she has no interest in the occult and only joined bc she is used to following mizuki

she's bad at talking about herself and at socializing since she's so used to hiding behind her sister's back

she knows mizuki's devotion for the occult is because she wants to protect her

when one of the twins gets sleepy, the other one does too and when one of the twins gets sick, the other does too... 😭

she's friends with ushio because of her sister, but at first she was jealous of their friendship, since it was the first time it was a friendship exclusive to "one of them"
