Minecraft Items Challenge Attempt 2: The Halloween Update

Welcome to the Halloween Update, I hope your Halloween 2010 was just great.

I actually made a roof for the first time in this challenge. It looks like shit, blame the lack of slabs.

I went fishing and somehow launched a fish 10 million miles behind me

I went to the the nether, grabbed all of the things, here's where I found the soul sand

Made an upgrade to my collection with the Halloween Update section, and I misspelled it, I will not fix this.

and off we go, we are looking for two pumpkins and some snow.

there are the pumpkins, about 300m into a1.2 terrain

here's a gravel beach on top of a cave, perfect for a 404 challenge

almost exactly 2km into alpha chunks, I found the world's smallest tundra, and then got rid of it.

the forest fire was much larger on my way back

here's the border between the a1.0 terrain and the a1.2 terrain.

and here's how classic minecraft acts at random sometimes. this game simply wasn't programmed.

on the other side, terrain that looks this good is super rare even post Caves & Cliffs

I did not recognize the mountain range I was stumbling across for the last few hundred meters, so I assumed my chunks were overwritten again, but I'm safe.

And here's all of Alpha 1.2, Raw Cod, Cooked Cod, Netherrack, Glowstone Dust, Glowstone, Soul Sand, Snow Ball, Snow, Pumpkin, and Jack 'o Lanturn

Minecraft Items Challenge Alpha 1.0 Part 5

The word of the day is travel, I am looking for Sugarcanes in a world where water in extremely rare. This legitimately took me about 6 hours.

My first idea for looking for sugar canes was trees along a coast, I figured sometimes ice might not freeze if there are leaves above the shore.

There are 4 somewhat rare items that I need to find in the overworld, The 2 types of mushrooms, Cactus, and Sugar Canes. The Red Mushroom is the first of those four, not even 75m from my base.

Headed back to my base because I left right before night fell, Minecraft before beds is a lot of waiting, this is when I started researching sugar canes in Winter Mode Worlds, I did not find anything yet

And that's surface exploration item #2, the Cactus.

I found this mountain and figured there might be a lot of overhangs on it because of how tall it is, where I found both of the ways water spawns in winter worlds, both in Gravel Beaches and in overhangs

After this, night fell again, and I did a little bit of mining while night passed. Got myself my first full set of iron armor, which will start to break by the end of this post and will end up in the collection.

I found this weird world gen thing, Ice only generating on the surface level, I think this is a quirk of lake worldgen.

Surface exploration Item #3, The Brown Mushroom. the worst fungus in minecraft to this day, love this guy.

about 150 minutes after that last image, I finally found sugarcane, this is the only block of water anywhere near here, super lucky. I wasn't even excited at this point, this was like 30 minutes before I had to get dressed for work and I wanted to make it back to base before I needed to leave.

Later, when I got back home, I finally found my base after being very nearly lost for way too long.

I did a bunch more mining and farming today, as well as crafting up anything I had all of the materials for, adding a bunch to my collection.

I added the Oak Fence, Wheat Seeds, Oak Boat, Raw Porkchop, Stick, Wooden Shovel, Wooden Hoe, Ladder, Wooden Axe, Wooden Sword, Stone Axe, Stone Pickaxe, Stone Hoe, Oak Stairs, String, Gold Ore, Iron Pickaxe, Milk Bucket, Bow, Iron Boots, Iron Leggings, Iron Chestplate, Iron Helmet, Block of Diamond, Book, Sugar Cane, Bookshelf, Stone Button, Stone, Oak Sign, Oak Pressure Plate, Oak Log, Painting, Paper, Brown Mushroom, Red Mushroom, Lever, Cactus, Redstone Torch, Wheat, White Wool, Bread, Bowl, Chest, Crafting Table, Golden Boots, Stone Pressure Plate, and the Jukebox (I accidentally put two ladders in the chest, this has since been fixed). I now have a total of 94 items, or 72% of Minecraft Alpha 1.0

Minecraft Items Challenge Attempt 2: The Update that Changed the World: Finale

First things first was a Dark Oak and Black Stained Glass update to the base

Something I noticed about my skin, is that the outer layer is missing, so my belt, collar, and cuff are missing on this skin, however the glasses, which are on a higher layer, are there. This is not a glitch, the outer layer only existed for the head until The Bountiful Update.

Anyways, those fish I totally didn't forget are getting put in The Collection.

I went through a seed finder to look for the three biomes I need. I'm looking for an Allium, Packed Ice, and Red Sand. It's a long journey, but off I go, here's another picture of a chunk error

It's weird seeing terrain with grass, the alpha terrain around my base doesn't have grass, and my base in my main world is made of moss and has been grass free since Trails & Tales came out

Item #1, the Allium, I missed this bastard at the last flower forest when I was looking for Dark Oak and Acacia wood.

And right next to the flower forest, way closer than I thought it would be, is the Ice Spikes Biome. I tore down an Ice Spike and continued on

Oh no, a fire in the distance, that's the first time I've seen that since beta 1.0

I was not looking and I fell in a ravine, ravines did not exist before this update, so I had my guard down

I found a new friend! He didn't like me :*(

Hey! Blacksmith and Desert Temple

FUCKING FINALLY, only took me an hour and a half, not the worst exploration I've had to do, but long enough to be annoying, grabbed 3 stacks of the stuff for when Red Sandstone is added in the next update.

After another podcast episode, I return to my base.

I crafted the stained glass and stained glass panes, this is quite a large chunk of the update.

Okay, fishing time! I was going to make an Auto Fish Farm, but those don't work until the next update.

okay, after 40 minutes, I've gotten a name tag I threw away my fishing rod because I won't need this ever again, also, here's the haul.

Next Up is The Bountiful Update, which is an update made of many smaller features adding up to be a pretty large update.

Minecraft Items Challenge Attempt 2: Beta 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7

Here we enter an era of a lot of really small updates in a row. Welcome to Minecraft Beta 1.5

This version adds Achievements and Tooltips, so I got the Taking Inventory achievement after 20 hours of gameplay

I went to the fucked up Alpha trees and broke them until I got a birch and spruce sapling

I then became probably one of the first people to get "Getting Wood" with a diamond axe legit.

I then made the collection section.

Here's all of the Items in Minecraft Beta 1.5; The Spruce Sapling, Birch Sapling, Powered Rail, and Detector Rail.

Weclcome to Minecraft Beta 1.6, this is the smallest update in that actually added blocks, right alongside Alpha 1.1

I made a map and a trapdoor, made a new Collection Section, and put the Map and Trapdoor in the chest, completing Beta 1.6

Welcome to Minecraft Beta 1.7, another small one, but probably one of the most common older versions of the game still played, alongside 1.12 for mods, 1.8 for bad combat, and 1.16 for speedrunning.

Grass was added (I think this was back in Beta 1.5, but I'm not willing to check) so that's interesting

I grabbed some leaves from the nearby trees before going off to craft the headlining feature of the update: Pistons.

I then once again added a new Collection Section, the chest in this one is bugged for whatever reason, but I think I'll leave it like that. My collection system is getting very wooden.

I then added the Sticky Piston, the Piston, Oak Leaves, Birch Leaves, Spruce Leaves, and Shears to the collection, completing Minecraft Beta 1.7 and this phase of the challenge

Next Up, combining Beta 1.8 and Full Release 1.0 into one big Adventure Update, which will be one of the more fun segments of the Challenge

Minecraft Items Challenge Attempt 2: World of Color Update

Welcome to the World of Color Update! There was such a huge marketing push behind this one but there weren't nearly as many features are there are in mdoern Minecraft Updates.

The Achievement system has been reworked Again, so I get a bunch of advancements the second I logged on, as well as a bunch of recipes for the recipe book and the control tutorial

Wow, "Getting Wood" with a diamond axe twice and getting "Stone Age" with a diamond pickaxe in the same world. This world is going to get weirder over the next few updates, too.

I fixed the last Collection Section, and added the new one.

I then began glazing the terracotta, there are 4 categories of new items in this update, and they mostly come in the 16 dye colors, Concrete, Concrete Powder, Glazed Terracotta, and Beds.

It's also my first time ever sleeping, I am 50 hours into this world.

Here I am sorting my concretes and my concrete powders so I can put them in my collection.

Here are my first diamonds and my first seeds, which I got trying to make a hoe to breed my cows for new steaks, which I never actually do in this update

And here's me crafting the beds.

Minecraft Items Challenge: The Exploration Update: Finale

This post starts at my end portal, where which will definitely not waste my time.

A few pictures of me flying around the end at the start of my 90 minute shell grinding session, in The Exploration Update, looting does not effect shulker shell drops, so I had to visit about 8 end cities before getting my 40ish shells.

Weridly enough, I got enough XP from Shulkers to keep my elytra at almost half health.

Minecraft Items Challenge Attempt 2: The Exploration Update: Part 1

Welcome to the Exploration Update, the one where I massively increase the file size of my world.

This update is full of absolutely massive Late-Game features, like rocket boosting your elytra.

Also, this is the first update that is supported by Vanillatweaks, my favorite resource pack

And now we are off, we are looking of a post-Bountiful Update village and a woodland mansion, which I go the complete wrong way to because I looked up a seed map and then typed in my seed wrong.

Here's the librarian that ends up giving me both maps, I had to make a little sugar cane farm in order to make the THREE STACKS of emeralds I needed to unlock the explorer map trades

Here's the mansion! The main strategy for Woodland mansions is to land on the roof and break in a window, and then go room by room clearing it out like an old shooter.

Didn't get a picture of it because Evokers attack you the second they see you, but here are my first two Totems of Undying

Here's a vindicator that jump scared me while In was digging through a chest.

here's a whole hole left by a creeper, holy shit!

on my way back I saw this village that got cut in half by an update so it's just a single villager house and some crops.

and I've made it home, lots of loot in hand, I managed to get a golden apple and a saddle as well.

I made a new Collection Section, Dark Oak this time, because every block in this update is a shulker box.

In this update I got the Totem of Undying, Ocean Explorer Map, and Woodland Explorer Map

Minecraft Items Challenge Attempt 2: The Frostburn Update

Welcome to the Frostburn Update! It sure was an Update.

I used the bones generated from my mob farm to build the new Collection Section and craft the first item of 4.

I grabbed Nether Wart from my brewing room and used that to make the second item and start the third item.

I grabbed the Nether Bricks that I had smelted somewhere around the Adventure Update, and used that to finish the third update.

And here's the Magma Cream, the thing I need for the fourth and final item.

And here's the update. I gathered Bone Block, Nether Wart Block, Magma Block, and Red Nether Bricks, thus completing the Frostburn Update

Up next is the Exploration Update, which, contrary to popular belief, is a real update that actually has features.
