I wanted to add a bit of silent lore to my skellies. I'll let the comic speak for itself lol
#19 - What if Minecraft added Ants?
Ants are neutral mobs that function quite similarly to bees - Anthills generate in a variety of forested and tree-heavy biomes, containing 2-3 Ants inside.
Ants are Neutral mobs, so if you hit one, they hit you back, dealing 1 heart of damage each time. If you hit one, the entire swarm comes after you. They only have 8 health and are susceptible to Bane of Arthropods. Not that that matters much, because they drop nothing when killed. They're better left alive!
Ants come in 8 different colors, depending on the biome they spawned in. Ants are inherently hostile to all other colors of ant except their own, and will fight each other on sight, so make sure to keep them separated! The biomes for each color of ant are as follows:
Red Ants: Forest, Flower Forest, Wooded Badlands Yellow Ants: Birch Forest, Old Growth Birch Forest Green Ants: Mangrove Swamp Black Ants: Taiga, Snowy Taiga, Old Growth Pine Taiga, Old Growth Spruce Taiga, Windswept Forest Brown Ants: Dark Forest Orange Ants: Jungle, Sparse Jungle, Bamboo Jungle Blue Ants: Dappled Forest White Ants: Pale Garden
Ants can be bred with Leaf Litter, but two ants of different colors would much rather fight than breed. Baby Ants will match the color of their parents, not the biome they are born in.
Much like Bees pollinating from flowers, Ants gather leaves and organic materials from various plant blocks - Short/Tall Grass, Ferns, Bushes, Red Shrubs, Azaleas, and all Leaves make for prime places for Ants to forage. Don't worry though - they don't break their food supply.
Ants will carry Leaves in their mandibles and bring them back to the nest, where they will feed them to their underground fungus gardens for food. When they have enough, the Anthill will look different from the side and can be brushed to obtain the Ant Fungus!
Ant Fungus is a block that can be placed similarly to Glow Lichen or Sculk Veins. This complex mycelial network is coated in the pheromones of the Ants that tended to it - Pheromones that many other mobs know to avoid. These can be used to get mobs to go where you want them to go, to move away from your base, and more!
Ant Fungi drop when mined with Shears. Ravagers can break through Ant Fungus, giving illagers a key edge over it in raids if it's the kind they're afraid of. The mobs that each Ant Fungus wards off are as follows:
Red Ant Fungus: Zombies, Zombie Villagers, Husks, Drowned, Zombie Horses, Zombie Nautiluses, and Camel Husks. Yellow Ant Fungus: Skeletons, Strays, Bogged, Parched, Wither Skeletons, and Skeleton Horses. Green Ant Fungus: Slimes, Magma Cubes, and Sulfur Cubes Black Ant Fungus: Endermen and Endermites Brown Ant Fungus: Villagers, Wandering Traders, Pillagers, Vindicators, Evokers, and Witches Orange Ant Fungus: Sheep, Pigs, Cows, Chickens, Rabbits, Wolves, Ocelots, Cats, Horses, Donkeys, Mules, Llamas, Trader Llamas, Foxes, Armadillos, Frogs, Tadpoles, Polar Bears, Pandas, Turtles, Goats, Parrots, Sniffers, Happy Ghasts and Mooshrooms Blue Ant Fungus: Spiders, Cave Spiders, and Silverfish White Ant Fungus: Wardens (this doesn't particularly make Wardens any more cheesable, since the Warden can either take the long way around from the scary fungus or just blast you from the other side, and given the rarity of finding an anthill in a Pale Garden it seemed like a fun use case)
In addition, all colors of Ant Fungus will naturally scare off any Ant not the same color as it, allowing Players to naturally differentiate different Ant species in farms and such.
Anthills full of the Ant Fungi will have the same pheromone properties, allowing players to maybe get a sense for them in the wild and prevent future ant wars on biome borders. To make more Anthills, simply craft any color of Ant Fungus with a Grass Block.
So that's Ants! One of my favorite real life animals (although calling them a singular animal feels limiting) finally represented in Minecraft! I want to do a ton more bug species in the future, so this is just the first taste!
got sidetracked have a messy unicorn mob concept sketch
Idea is a neutral tameable mob, that spawns occasionally in dark wood biomes. Taller than a horse and more difficult to tame. Comes in a variety of colours.
every once in a while i start thinking about stuff id like to see in minecraft or mods i want to see (but will never make myself bc i do not have the skill or patience).
Drawing game accurate steve is boring as fuck so i drew jack black and Jack Black as Dr. Hell

#18 - What if Minecraft had Ducks?
Ducks spawn in almost every non-Ocean overworld biome - however, they will only spawn on blocks of water between 1-3 blocks deep. You'll find ducks in various ponds in the overworld, but are also quite common near rivers and in swamps. Ducks, like other farm animals in Minecraft, have three distinct variants based on the climate they're found in - Cold Ducks are black and blue, Warm ducks are pure white, and Temperate ducks are a classic green mallard!
Ducks are all-terrain animals, and can walk, swim and fly as needed. When swimming, they stay on the surface of the water, occasionally turning their head around to preen their back feathers, re-applying an oily secretion over their body to keep themselves waterproof.
When a duck is attacked, or spooked by a projectile like a wind charge or fishing bobber, they will fly off, prompting other Ducks nearby to do the same thing. Ducks will stick together when they fly, forming an iconic "V" formation like migrating ducks. They're not very quick to flee, but when farming ducks, you'll have to be careful to not let them fly away!
Ducks lay eggs, but they function differently than Chickens. Ducks do not lay eggs randomly, but only when bred using seeds or Kelp will they drop a single duck egg in accordance with their variant. Duck Eggs are much larger and heavier than chicken eggs, and can be thrown as a projectile but do not fly as far. Duck Eggs have a 100% chance of hatching a Duck when thrown, with a 1/256 chance to hatch four much like chicken eggs. Baby Ducks will follow their parent in a row, similar in fashion to Llamas following each other when attached to a Lead in a caravan. It's adorable to watch!
Ducks can be killed for feathers and for Raw Duck, they function very much like a "livestock animal" similar to pigs, sheep, chickens, cows and rabbits. Raw Duck restores as much as Raw Chicken, but without the chance at the Hunger effect. Cooked Duck restores as much hunger as the Cooked Chicken, but with slightly more saturation.
When swimming in water, Ducks preening their feathers will occasionally shed an Oiled Feather. This item can be used in place of a regular feather in just about any crafting recipe, but more importantly is a brewing ingredient - put it in an Awkward Potion to get the Potion of Water Walking! Water Walking, as the name suggests, causes the player to treat any block of water (or lava!) as a solid block, allowing them to walk across it like a solid block, but unable to swim. Drinking it underwater will cause you to rocket to the surface like a soul sand bubble column! The effect lasts for 3 minutes normally, but can be extended to 8 minutes. A new way to traverse across streams and oceans, and an alternative to Striders for early nether travel!
Lastly - having Ducks in the water near your fishing bobber will give unique effects while you fish. Each variant of Duck has unique effects, making fishing more interesting if a duck is nearby.
Cold Ducks: Have a small chance of doubling any item you get while fishing
Temperate Ducks: catching any junk/treasure item while fishing will also give you a Fish
Warm Ducks: if an item you fish is a piece of enchanted gear, the enchantments will be of much higher value and not cursed.
So yeah, a new adorable waddling, quacking Livestock mob to keep and raise - with a new source of food, new eggs, a new Potion for water mobility, and some improvements to the Fishing system to reward players for keeping Ducks around! Woo-oo!
