Mike’s Grandaughter’s Quilt
My dad’s best friend and chosen brother since age 13 passed away a little over 10 years ago. Not only was he our “Fake Uncle Mike,” as my brother and I always called him, but he was also a teacher, a husband, a dad, a Bob Dylan Fan and this summer he would have been a grandfather for the first time. To commemorate his beautiful spirit, his daughter sent me a few items from his wardrobe and I used them to make this quilt for her brand new baby girl, Layla Elizabeth.
