okay so here's another bonus post since i haven't been on here often. and because i haven't been talking about my guys as much as i used to.

here's a timeline comparison between the three "versions" of SYS.

v1 is where it started with Object Gloobiverse [key, peri] until I decided to make my ocs just part of my own thing. originally they served as my objectsonas (didn't figure out mint), but I couldn't stick with just a duo so it became a trio [polygon] v2 is when i wanted more of a cast to work with like a traditional object show, so I started brainstorming ideas [floppy disk, toasty] for… an extended period of time. I wanted an even cast, but realized I'd be one off. so I had to compromise [word tile, battery, strawberry, north AND south magnets (as one), contact ball] v3 is after my whole object show resurgence back in 2022 where I impulsively started watching/re-watching a bunch of shows. it carried over into the first third of 2023 (when I redid all of the SYS assets) but reached a high around May, when I thought "hm maybe i should give the objectsona thing another shot" [mint]. after that I was able to confidently turn the cast into a proper 12 [split north AND south magnets into northy and southy]

im so 20 days late but happy (severely belated) birthday to peri and key. a whole 2 years they've been around !

i have an explanation for nearly all of these choices. they're not necessarily long or super thought-out but i'll probably put that under an edit or just some other rb.

i just arrived at a terrible revelation.

i was going through my screenshots folder one day and saw a photo i had of BFB Taco's portrait. i sat there staring at it for like 30 seconds because something about it felt... familiar. but i couldn't figure out what...

and then it hit me

Peri's portrait is NEARLY THE SAME.

technically, this could count as a Sonic Adventure 2 reference (fakers and whatnot)... which makes this the third time i've subconsciously made some sort of sonic reference in my art

for God's sake. it keeps happening
