♛     “Ruler!” barked Lancer from atop her steed, the skeletal mare pacing back and forth rapidly, huffing with wild crimson eyes. The gilded gaze of the Altered King of Storms shined through her dragon helm with ferocity. Lancer was impatient for battle. There were enemies to be slaughtered...!

“Do you mean to impede me!?” she demanded, her head on a swivel back towards the battleground. There was WAR to be had!

Though a staunch Protestant, Franz had minor qualms about entering the decidedly Roman Catholic Fuyuki Church. 

For one, in life Franz had been forbidden from crossing the threshold of any house of God, Catholic or otherwise. His marriage had been confined to the four walls of his own home, but by sheer good fortune Franz had managed to have all his children baptised before the eyes of the Lord. Franz’s fellow executioners had not been so lucky.

This, and the fact that Fuyuki Church was the only Christian denominational church in the city, and Franz was not so picky that he would abandon his Master to travel to a nearest Protestant church.

Entering the hall, Franz crossed himself and took in the space with some surprise. The whitewashed walls were plain and the hall was generally devoid of the extravagance that usually defined Catholic churches. This, and the quiet, soothed Franz’s spirit.

Seating himself on one of the pews, Franz paused for a few moments before clasping his hands together in silent prayer.

They had been resting in their private room, it had been a long day of fighting in the arena and searching for clues on their recent opponent. But even while their bodies were resting her’s was still at work. There was something that had been bugging her for a while.
