Most only knew Mikoshi as a singular fortress of data hidden deep within cyberspace. An individual's body ceases to exist when their consciousness is digitized into an engram and ferried into the digital sanctuary.

But what if Mikoshi were two realms? What if it cleaved mind and body, allowing them to exist independently until they could be reunited?

The mind would live in cyberspace, thriving amidst endless amounts of data, pulsing and humming with life, liberated from the constraints of a material vessel as it was always meant to be.

In contrast, the body would remain in a less desirable state, though not inhumane. It would float forever in an otherworldly physical realm, beneath a blood-red sky and a sea with no end in sight. The body would be suspended in motion, tethering between life and death. Tangible yet isolated, free but suffocating.

But what if, before the melding of these entities, the body rebelled and awakened?
