If she talked long enough, insisted enough, kept her eyes down, they’d leave her alone eventually. They’d grow bored. They usually did.
“Come on, it’s a party! They’ll be food and drinks, we can give you a place to sleep for the night, no cost.”
Bullshit if she’d ever heard it. It was just the two of them, but they’d taken seats on either side of her on the bench, inching closer and trying to put their arms around her. They might not catch her if she ran for it.
Bad idea. Awful idea. The taller grabbed her backpack, pulling her hard down to the concrete. She would have ditched it if it didn’t have everything she owned in it. Even if she went now, they’d be pissed, already evident by their conjoined and immediate shouting at her; they’d probably drag her off, regardless of what she said now. Might as well sit back and just try to down them out while she still could.
