You see before you five girls trapped in an extra-hellish juvenile detention center where students are encouraged--sometimes required--to beat the liquid centers out of each other.

Nessa: the main protag, a moody kid who got sent to the slammer over a harmless prank; that she's in this situation because the other kids who actually planned the thing threw her under the bus did not help her attitude one bit. Nessa prefers to solve her problems with her fists.

Quinn Desmond: fierce and outgoing leader of the five-girl team that Nessa joins. She has a plan to destroy the school from the inside out.

Juni: tomboy from a surfing family who misses life back in California. The refusal of others to accept how she presents herself is a huge sore spot (read: Juni will kick you in the face).

Kyrie: literature nerd and aspiring author; while she learned basic judo for self-defense, Kyrie doesn't go looking for a fight.

Celeste: computer whiz who's arguably the most vicious of Quinn's girls behind Nessa. No one's sure how much of her bubbly personality is genuine and how much is a cover for her terrible home life.

ermahgerd it’s been forever since I’ve touched this blog.

But I’m curious, to those who still watch/are interested, what if we had a get together and had a sort of 10 year reunion event? Ya know, like a parting gift to all the good times we’ve had with this place.

I reread all of my old writing from Misery High and wow. I put my characters through so much shit. And there were things that I’d forgotten to. Like...

*During her three year stay at Misery High, Phoebe was captured and attacked by someone who was possessed three times. All of these attacks ended with her seriously injured. (Dissection in one case, parts of her being phased out in another.) But it’s okay because she’s a vampire and she can heal from anything except decapitation and stakes to the heart.  *Seriously though I had it IN for the poor girl. Anytime things in my life were going badly, she’d get attacked again. Or I’d reveal another part of vampirism that made her miserable. *This obviously did poorly for her mental health. It was only ever casually addressed, but she was getting nightmares and was an insomniac by the time she graduated. Then again everyone from Misery High graduated from PTSD. We were not kind. *Leroy completely hated Harvey at first. Then again Leroy hated everyone. Then Harvey got kidnapped by Leroy’s leprechaun family (long story) and Leroy started to pity for the guy. They bonded over the summer. And only then to Leroy’s dismay did he start to develop the crush. *Seriously it was weird reading the early stories. They went from hating each other to kind of friends to the one sided crush to the fallout from that to hating each other again to kind of tolerating each other. *Isaac initially enrolled at Misery High because Phoebe’s vampire coven wanted him to be her bodyguard. And then Phoebe’s coven leader told Phoebe “hey so. you know how you’re kind of listless and apathetic all the time? That’s my fault so I feel like I should fix that mistake. if you ever wanna fix that, you can always ask isaac to kill you.” *In hindsight Phoebe’s coven leader is a JERK. He changed Phoebe as a minor. Without her permission. Or telling her anything about vampires. And then he never tried helping her deal with her problems. And all because he had a weird romantic fixation on her. And he kind of got pissed that she never returned it/was oblivious to it. Hence subtly pushing her towards suicide... *Phoebe basically hated everyone at the beginning. She thought Harvey was stupid but found him intriguing. Four years later they’re engaged and they want to spend the rest of eternity with each other. She hated Isaac and thought he was stupid and him being her bodyguard was stupid. Four years later, they’re really close friends and she’s withholding information that she thinks could harm him. And of course she hated Leroy because of the species war. They never got to being on super friendly terms, but they did tolerate each other enough to worry when the other got hurt. 

This weird little group of kids went through some crazy character development and plots. I feel bad that I’m not going to have them together in my original universe because they bounced off each other well.

Today on going through my old folders, I found a bunch of headcanons that we made for my old roleplaying group Misery High. Some of them were legit.

Anyone remember a story I wrote for Misery High where Evangeline narrated and gave possible explanations for why something had happened, but refused to say which one it was? Here's the answer. The three possible reasons for Carl's increasing paranoia were 1. It happened on its own, 2. Frida was possessing people close to him, causing them to act out of character, 3. The vampire coven was trying to gaslight him. It was a combination of one and three. Frida was honest about how far her fixation on Carl went. She readily admits to breaking into his house on occasion and accidentally causing a small house fire once. When Carl brings up possession, she quickly protests that she doesn't do that. She was telling the truth. That was always the answer to this prompt. I wouldn't have felt comfortable pursuing Carl and Frida's relationship if she had done that. She also backs off at this point. So yeah. The answer to a question I'm sure no one wanted.
