Favourite scene from Season 1 and Season 2 of Young Royals and how do they compare? Why do you like those two scenes. <3
Okay Ezri. It had been months since you sent me this, and I have been thinking about it ever since. It is so so hard to pick a single scene that truly is my favorite because there are simply so many. There are so many amazing scenes. But after months I have found two of my favorite scenes that I can compare.
My favorite scene from season one is my favorite scene in the whole show, and the answer is The Lake Scene from Season One, Episode Five. For so so many reasons.
It's beautifully shot, and beautifully lighted, first of all. But that scene, at its very essence, is showing the simple joys of queer love. And that is not only what makes it beautiful, but important.
They are simply enjoying each other. They are happy and in love and enjoying their small moment of peace. They aren't worried about who is watching or what might happen. They are living in their moment and basking in the sunlight and being them.
No looking over their shoulder. No worrying. Just them in pure, queer, blissful love.
I cannot choose just one scene from season two that is my favorite. There are so many polarizing moments. The gun range scene is so intense, and the dance makes me giddy. There are just so many amazing scenes to choose from.
But for this purpose of this post, and the comparison, I'm going to choose the book scene from Season Two, Episode Five. Same episode and everything haha.
But the reason I feel like I can compare these two scenes is because the are both unapologetically about queer love. Even more so in the second season. Not only are they talking about their own queer love story and reconciling their differences, but they're also talking about the queer love story in their book.
They find their parallels within this semi-autobiographical book they're doing their project on.
And maybe in this scene they're not as blindly happy, or as open, but they are still absolutely expressing their love for one another. They are still in this moment, silently telling each other "I love you, I want you." They speak and communicate without saying the words they need to say. That is something that happens in both seasons (in season one they talk about the water, in season two they talk about the book, but they never talk about what they really mean). They can't be open about it this time around, and maybe they don't want to be after everything they've been through, but the point stays the same:
They are just them in pure, queer love.
So those were my two scenes. I hope the several long months wait was worth it. Also I'm writing this at three in the morning, so if it doesn't make any sense, I apologize and we can all forget this happened.
