Within the fictional continuity of “Max Headroom,” “Missile Mike” was an ultraviolent children’s television program. The show seemed to consist of nothing but the eponymous soldier repeatedly firing his rifle followed by scenes of massive explosions.
As a computer-generated persona existing within the same network as the TV program, Max Headroom had difficulty understanding that Missile Mike was a character in a television show and not a real person.
