should i convert to anilist

i can’t really be a massive driving force for the site only just going back to it, but i did make an account on there back when it first launched because the interface was really slick and it had a lot of promise, but updating 2 anime lists on different sites simultaneously always seemed like a hassle so i stopped using it over time

but with the bullshit that myanimelist is going through at the moment, i honestly have no trust whatsoever in them anymore, especially considering i was a fool that was a supporter once they started offering it and now that i can’t even currently cancel that support or delete my payment info from their site is what is worrying me even more

from what ive seen since going back to anilist is really promising though, they started offering supporting/donations like MAL did except its pay what you want and their vision is to not put any features behind it whatsoever so that people that cant pay for it aren’t missing out so big + on that and you have a lot of control over how your lists are scored and what not i think you can choose between 10/10, 10.00/10, 5/5, 5 stars, and even a :( :| :) system lmfao

i dont think there’s a limit to your favourites or anything and everything is really hassle free, you can choose between default light theme, dark theme and high contrast on the fly, and thats about all ive experienced since going back to it. i’m honestly not a very good judge on if you should convert or not but i personally don’t trust MAL with my info anymore and being able to export both my anime list and manga list xml’s from that site and to be able to basically resume right away on anilist made it a no brainer
