Clean regularly
Cleaning with household cleaners that contain soap or detergent can reduce the number of bacteria on the surface and reduce the risk of surface infection. In most cases, cleaning alone will remove most of the virus particles on the surface. Unless someone in the home is sick or someone who has been positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours has stayed at home, disinfection may not be necessary to reduce the spread of COVID-19 at home.
When and how to clean the surfaces in the home
Clean the high-frequency contact surface regularly (for example, every day) and after a guest visits at home.
Focus on cleaning high-frequency contact surfaces, such as doorknobs, tables, handles, light switches, and work surfaces.
When the surface is visibly dirty or needed, clean other surfaces in the home. If someone in the home is prone to get sick from COVID-19, they should be cleaned more frequently. You can also choose to disinfect.
