"Mistress of Rome" by Kate Quinn. Liked it, 3/5 stars Thea is a Jewish slave during the Roman times of Emperors; Emperor Titus Flavius Domitianus to be exact. She gets bounced from many different places and roles; such as a singer. She even gets to fall in love which isn't allowed to last long. Things really start going downhill when she catches the Emperor's eye by accident. I really enjoy historical fictions and this one was a good one. Many of the events described in the book happened quite often during this time period, even if some of the characters and story lines are not true. Things like marrying cousins or slave trading were quite common and degrading.
