You can tame a mustang but you can never break her spirit
A few years ago; even at the beginning of 2018 I would’ve NEVER been able to get on her, ride her or work her alone. I would’ve NEVER put little kids; the youngest so far being 3 on her without having great fear. I would’ve NEVER let my friends/others get on her & run her. . Now I do all of it regularly. I now trust her enough to put toddlers on her, throw my friends up & only give them general guidelines to riding her, & I get on her myself & ride her like you would any normal horse. . I don’t think some of you understand why these things are so important to me, but many of you do. . I never thought Misty would be capable of doing things that other owners expect from their horses normally. After years of never finding that missing piece I was convinced that she would be a fun light working horse, even just a companion. But the end of 2017 & especially this year, Misty has proven all of my fears wrong. She’s come so far in a short amount of time. For a while I thought she was a lost cause. . I’m so proud of her, & proud of us. We’ve come so far in our journey, most of it alone. We’ve had our struggles, our angry fits; frustrated each other, hurt each other. But now, we’ve finally hit the top, & there’s still so far we can rise ❤️
If you're happy and you know it
I'm in a fairly good mood today, and not just because I've only got one day of work left before my Christmas break. I think it's also because I am seeing people around me happy.
First there was the very random phone call from Mistyred, who I haven't talked to on the phone for months or more. It was a very random phone call to share a joke about mistaking Cardassians for Kardashians, which then morphed in to a chat about her new kitten. Really, it didn't matter what we talked about - it was just nice to hear her sounding happy.
Secondly, Rainbow seems that little bit more relaxed and energetic now that she has a new job lined up for next year. There just seemed to be a different look to her whole face yesterday, and I hope everyone gets to see that look more often.
Now I just hope my happiness is contagious enough to help Mrs Menow get through her last day of work and the couple of days she will be spending by herself next week because of having to come back from holiday early to work.
I'm looking forward to New Year, to a couple of child free nights with Mrs Menow and then Rainbow joining us for a few days.
Bring on the holidays.
Cats are a tonic, they are a laugh, they are a cuddle, they are at least pretty just about all of the time and beautiful some of the time.

(This post dedicated to Misty and her cat. Misty's cat has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and its hurts to see the sadness Misty is already experiencing, let alone that which is going to come when her most loved earthly companion departs.)
