Military AU // mitsubaaoi

Alice paced in the boardroom, glancing at her temporary partner out of the corner of her eye. He looked capable enough -- strong arms, guarded expression, a professional -- and she didn't doubt his qualifications, but there was definitely something about him that she doubted. Still, she couldn't put her finger on what, and their mission was more important than her paranoia. If something happened, she could deal with it on the fly. She smoothed her expression over and began to speak.

"It'll just be the two of us. This is a rescue mission, not an attack, and the general doesn't want to risk any more people than we have to. We need to get in, rescue our soldier, and get out. With as little contact with enemy forces as possible. Understand?" Alice asked, crossing her arms over her chest.

As much as this new guy -- Kurashiki, that was his name -- unnerved her, Alice was still of a higher rank. Still, at least in technical terms, in charge. And she would use that to bolster herself, however superficial and vain it might seem. Whatever it took to get the mission done.

"Our target is this storehouse," Alice explained, pointing to a building marked on a map on the wall. "It's the kind of building that's normally just weapons storage, but if our intel is correct, that's where we should find our missing officer. Thankfully, it's not far inside the enemy compound."

Finished with her instructions, Alice put a hand on her hip and studied the white-haired man across from her.
