the fun thing about jjba is that (starting with stardust crusaders) the story introduces "stands", which are also named after songs/musicians (mostly after stardust crusaders), like killer queen, pearl jam, king crimson, etc. there's also some characters named after bands, like the brothers named oingo and boingo or the guy named steely dan. jjba loves its music references <3

Does this mean I should start watching Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure? It sounds awesome.

hi i just saw the ask about rock vocals and as the local metalhead/rock enjoyer, i wanted to say my piece!! rock music (and all alternative music, really--metal, punk, etc) has a history of being anti-industry, hence the name "alternative". one of the ways rock musicians do that is through the actual sound of their music, through things like the production, instruments, and vocals. since popular music is usually very clean in its production/instrumentation/vocals, alternative music tends to do the opposite of those things. so if the vocals in rock music sound rough or imperfect, it's because of that!! tl;dr it's just part of alternative music's DNA to be rough and imperfect since it's supposed to be alternative to the music industry which has historically tried to be clean and perfect for its record sales :)

oh yes that makes total sense!! i didn’t want to say anything to specific because like I said i’m no expert, i listen but don’t know the history, so thank you for letting me (and the anon) know the real reason why! ❤️
