thank you @torriesorge for this message!! "Have you felt “less than”because one of your parents is White? My mom is White. My dad was Afro-Puerto Rican. Mom raised me. I look like Dad. I’m a rich, beautiful combination of both of them. The fact that my mom is White doesn’t make me less Mixed. And it doesn’t diminish the racism, microaggressions, and countless experiences I’ve had to learn to navigate. Often, as Mixed individuals, we’re made to feel like our experiences aren’t as significant or our ethnicity is not enough when one of our parents is White. Friend, let me tell you…that’s a lie! Your experiences matter. Your story matters. You don’t have to hide part of you anymore! Let that shame fall so you can embrace ALL of who you were created to be. Do you have a White parent? I’d love to hear your Mixed experience. Drop it in the comments! Let’s encourage one other!
