“I was incredibly frustrated that at the age of 31, I had gone through a lifetime without seeing myself or my experiences reflected back at me in the media, literature or culture. I was tired too of seeing one particular type of mixed race girl, guy or mixed race family showcased as ‘the future’ and proof of a post racial world.
