Reaction to "Sleeping Syren" (S6 E6)
Is it just me, or does Kim’s re-design make him look smaller, or at least thinner? He seems less broad through the shoulders, although as we’ll see his legs got longer.
Ondine is on a first-name basis with Kim’s fathers. That’s… simply not done, anywhere. Kim obviously has an incredibly casual relationship with his parents… one of whom, incidentally, is Russian, in a possible “take that” in response to the Russian dub nixing LGBTQ references within the show. (FTR, “Miraculous” still airs in Russia on TV-3, although I have no idea how they’re handling… certain elements of season 6.)
Did Kim always like bananas, or did he start liking them after he became monke?
Ray’s bucking for the role of our new secondary villain, the way Chloe functioned as a lesser antagonist occasionally in the service of ShadowHawkMonarch in seasons 1-5. And like Chloe, he’s doing it for the evulz.
This is episode 6; “El Toro de Piedras” is ep 7… so there is something Ivan isn’t ready to talk about yet.
We have official confirmation that Felix is still living in London, maintaining a long-distance relationship with Kagami. Hence, there are not one but two Miraculous in the hands of holders who aren’t readily available for call-out. Both of these holders, coincidentally, know Ladybug’s secret identity. But somehow, it’s okay for Kagami to stay local. If Tomoe finds out her daughter has a Miraculous and knows who Ladybug is? Fan, meet shit.
It looks like the girl squad has adopted Diane. But Sabrina isn’t joining them for this adventure… even though this ep canonically takes place after “Daddycop” and she’s mended fences with Marinette and her clique.
Marinette declaring her intent to get people to become friends or love interests is usually enough to put the Akuma Alert system on standby. But this episode, it’s genuinely not her fault. This time, the credit goes to Ray and his rotten rolldogs.
Apparently, the triangle is the only musical instrument Kim can be trusted to play reasonably well and/or not break.
Ondine alludes to body image issues in her poem, but her outfit makes the most of both her physique and her freckles. Maybe having a boyfriend who liked her in spite of or because of those features rendered them a non-issue?
Ondine and Kim play well together, but when it’s something important, Ondine takes it too seriously and Kim doesn’t take it seriously enough. It’s the same dynamic that played out in the original “Syren”.
Blink and you’ll miss it, but that’s Nora (sorry, Anansi) working in the school cafeteria.
“Ooh, a piece of candy. Ooh, a piece of candy. Ooh, a piece of candy. Ooh, a piece of candy…”
Putain de merde, Loïc may be even dumber than Kim. But Nelson? He’s the brains of the bunch, so smart it’s dangerous. Like many modern trolls, he weaponizes pseudoscience to manipulate gullible idiots into making stupid and terrible decisions, providing us with this episode’s requisite 21st-century Aesop.
Luring Kim into a kiss using a challenge or a dare was brilliant strategy by Ondine. Too bad Nelson got to him first.
Ma'am. Excuse me, ma'am... you're gonna have to pay for that table.
Kim. Kim. You never EVER imply anything negative about a woman’s intimate hygiene. I know we’re just talking about kissing, but the metaphor’s been in the background like so much furniture this whole episode...
Of all people, you’d think Ondine would spring for waterproof mascara.
The animation engine really captures the destructive power of the flooding. In “Syren” we got a slow rising of water, but now it’s a tsunami crashing through the city streets!
Marinette’s second-guessed her decision to distribute the Miraculous before, but this is the first time since Chloe that she’s legit considered stripping a specific someone of their jewelry. That Marinette herself was romantically wounded by Kim years ago (see “Derision”) may not be a coincidence.
Kim using a trashcan and a sign as a makeshift canoe is another callback to our first encounter with Syren.
Ivan is missing from the call-out. Preoccupied with something, perhaps? Oh, and no one says anything about Ladybug’s “we don’t need him” comment. Then again, no one knows the monkey is Kim, so nobody reads any meaning into it.
This episode is Ryuko’s time to shine. In fact, all the Miraculers get in their licks. The Pegasus-Carapace rescue team-up? Chef’s kiss.
It really isn’t a Kim episode without him stripping down to his swimsuit. This season he’s swapped out the bikini briefs for trunks, which strikes me as a downgrade. But it’s worth noting that Kim is still more cut than any of the guys we’ve seen this far… and he’s still got the booty. :O
The denouement of this ep offers a clever workaround for the tricky kissing-without-consent issue. Oh, and this isn’t the first time we’ve seen akumatized lipstick; see “Zombizou”.
The other Aesop in this ep is that love doesn’t always follow the romantic tropes set up as the ideal by fairy tales, romance novels, rom-coms, or our own imaginations. (Marinette, please take your own advice.) Everyone’s love story runs on its own timetable, and true intimacy can’t be forced… even if it’s “just kissing”.
The end card is adorable, with all of our couples getting romantic. We even get a Nathmarc smoochie, something we didn’t even see in “The Ruler”.
Someone’s got a problem with Ray and his boys. Ray mentions finding other couples to break up—did Chrysalis recruit Ray’s gang to create conditions for future akumatizations, and she’s about to punish them for their failure? Or is their attacker someone else who found out what they’re up to and is putting a stop to it?
MLB Femslash February 2026: Valentine's Day (Free Slot)
I show you a series of sketches I made for the Free Slot.
First: Mariglaé (Marinette x Aglaé)
Marinette and Aglaé pose together as dressed like in Victorian era. They also hold a flowers' bucket together.
Second: Dianette (Marinette x Diane)
Marinette and Diane watch each other during the End Year ballet. Diane (who wears a clover-themed dress) is charming Marinette by caressing her chin.
Post Scriptum: Marinette designed and created the Diane's dress.
Third: Mariblime (Marinette x Sublime)
Marinette and Sublime see each other at school. The bluenette confesses her feelings and offers a chocolate box to the athletic girl. The latter confesses her own feelings toward the former in return. It's showtime that they are in love with each other.
Fourth and last: Marinette x Cinema girl/"Cassia"
The girl who holds a love letter is the Cinema girl from Revelator (5.11). I name her "Cassia".
Cassia goes to Marinette. The charming girl comes to her with a love letter. The pigtail-haired girl feels honoured.
This fanart is the only one to have colors.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. 💖

These drafts are made for the @mlbfemslashfebruary event.
Diane being a lucky girl is definitely gonna come around once Marinette realizes she is her contrast. Marinette is clumsy and tends to attract chaos to her life, whereas Diane is equally clumsy but is blessed with luck to make her situation work out better for her.
Why did I now just realize those are four leaf clovers on her design and not a flower! 🍀
rewatched sleeping syren for the english dub and
SHES SO CUTEEEEEE I DIDN'T NOTICE THIS BEFORE
I was annoyed cause it almost seemed like the character Diane was another perfect character but then realized that she wears clovers...she's lucky. She's just ridiculously lucky!!
[the hell you mean you spilled paint and it made Jagged Stone?]
